OK, so how does updating from ver 4.9 to 5.0 make Windows faster? It has nothing to do with how fast Windows speed is.
Don't forget that this is Samsung software so it's probably been tweaked to show the best results in bench tests. Nothing to do with the OS what so ever.
In my system this software version for me is much better than the 4.9.7 version, and i did the benchmark test's but i don't care about it. I'm telling you that after i did the performance optimization on magician 5.0, my laptop is running faster and the the windows 10 boots faster, ok?

I'm the one who uses the computer, it's not you, so I know what I'm saying and it's not a placebo effect!!!

    Please read: http://www.samsung.com/semiconductor...tion_guide.pdf

There are some changes and more information, concerning Magician, which Samsung SSDs can use it and more information on RAPID and benchmarking.

They forgot to include a "Removed Features" list, probably because it would be the largest one.

    OS Optimization? Gone.
    Over-provisioning? Gone.
Rapid mode for AMD chipsets? Gone.
    Data security options? Gone.
Performance Optimization also gone for most Samsung SSD drives.

Stick to 4.9.7 unless they fix this. The current version 5 has been reduced to merely an information tool.

Performance optimization has been gone for quite a while on Windows 10 and 8.1, as they have Optimize Drives, or do you mean system optimization(the tweaks section), they are totally in needed to, and those tweaks can even reduce system speed. All those old tweaks in newer, more modern serious sites, have been thrown out the windows SSD generations ago. Only copy & paste bloggers, and click bait sites still say to use them.

You are generalizing way too much. Things are not all or nothing. Newer Windows are of course more SSD-friendly but you certainly don't expect Microsoft to custom-set for us the best possible settings? For example, no need to set a huge virtual memory file on the SSD when you have lots of RAM. Prefetch is not required nor wanted for SSD.

Magician took care of all that and even monitored possible changes. The OS-optimization (the tweaks you mention) was a strong feature of Magician. Samsung should improve it, not axe it in favour of... a new UI (what a lovely trend that still goes strong - remove features and change the UI).

As for Performance Optimization, yes it's not relevant for later Windows but still, it's a removed feature for users of older Windows versions. In return, these users get a lovely new UI to look at.

My 850 PRO still has rapid mode but my 950 PRO never had rapid mode.

Is over provisioning really gone? My 950 PRO SSD still shows 47.7 GB of unallocated storage which I had set up for over provisioning. I wonder if it is okay to allocate that space now?

The ability to set the over-provisioning in Magician may be gone but the use for it still exists. However, if you no longer want to have it then you can use the unallocated space.

Before I had Magician, I just set up an amount of unallocated space for over-provisioning using Windows Disk Management

I have a Dell XPS, 64x W10Pro. What I notice with SM5.0 is that it seems to close on its own. I have the icon showing on the task bar. Sometimes I click on the up arrow to see what is open and the Magician icon disappears. I go to Task Manager and sure enough Magician is not open. Magician loads when I start the computer but at some point decides to shut down with no error message or apparent reason on my PC. The 4.9.7 version would give me messages about an unsigned Windows driver and close itself. Not sure why 5.0 doesn't want to cooperate. No apparent performance issues. Just wish the Samsung team would get Magician to work as it should. Basically, not crash.

The almost complete lack of options in v5.0.0 is just ridiculous. It's like they dumbed the software down to a child's level. I for one appreciate the extra options, as long as RAPID mode works (and it does, for me) and my firmware stays up to date. I went looking for the over-provisioning info and couldn't find it. I just encrypted my system partition and wanted to see if OP would still be shown as active. I guess I'll stick with v4.9.7 for awhile.
