What I am concerned about though is that after about a month, Magician claims that I've already written 1.09 terabytes.

A terabyte a month? Somehow that doesn't sound good.
1TB in a month is impossible(at least for day to day normal use), are you sure you're not looking at total bytes written? How long have you had this disk?

You really think you'll run that SSD for 12.5 years? Warranty is 5 years or 150 TB Written.

You could go 2.5 times that rate before impacting the 5 year limit.

I have 3.something TB written since mid-June. Note this is right after a 3 month period including Win10 upgrade followed by Win10 clean install and reinstalls of software and updates.

It was delivered to my house September 17th. (just checked Amazon/paypal)

I installed it on the weekend after which should make that September 20th.

So it's been installed exactly a month.

Is there a program I can use to quantify which program makes the most writes to the drive?

If you open up Resource Monitor you can see it in real time.

But I wants it Word Man. I wants it!

That seems like a reasonable figure to me.

I didn't even install Windows on this drive. I did a 50 gb macrium image restore.

So that was 50 gb written there. There were updates, and about 300 gb of files I copied from the old drive to the new drive.

That's half a terabyte. Where's the other half coming from? Windows Updates constant downloads? Browser cache?

I mean it's saying that I filled up my entire drive twice.

    With what? How?

Well, thank goodness, you're not marrying it, are you?

Huh-uh. It's saying that's how much data has been written to it. You'd have to subtract what's been "erased" from it (i.e., de-allocated, not "secure erased") to get the net data "fill-up".

You have 350 GB of 465.7 used now? May not want to go much beyond that 75% full mark before it starts impacting performance. I've seen recommendations as low as 50-60% for max fill.

My 256GB Samsung Pro has only 3.6TB and I have installed/uninstalled different Linux OS's and put all my data on it 50-60 time, put Win7 on it once and reimaged about 30 times(software testing), and lastly during the preview, Win10, testing installation speed & different ways, of on all versions, probably another 40-50 times. Like I said only 3.6TB.

Of course not Word Man. Don't be silly.

    Marriage is forever. Forever.

    Same difference no?

Irrespective of how much was deleted, Magician is claiming that over 1 terabyte of data was actually written to the drive. Which would equate to filling the drive's 500 GB capacity twice.

To compare apples to apples here, the "extra" writing could have more to do with how you've chosen to configure the SSD and OS interaction, e.g., selecting among OS optimization settings (Max Perf vs. Max. Reliability, etc.) in Magician (or tweaking OS settings yourself), whether using System Restore Points and how often, Page File settings, etc.

I've used different OS settings to see the effect and currently am at Magician's "Maximum Reliability" setting except with an over-ride to have indexing on for the time being. I'll go back to "stock" Max Reliability after I don't need the indexing so much.

I treat the 150 TB like any other discretionary budget and spend a little here a little there but make sure I don't go hog-wild. I treat my hoppy beer hunting and drinking the same way.
