Dell Optiplex 990 with Windows 10 - not detecting PCI new GPU

    Hello,

Searched many sites, tried many suggestions. Issue is GPU on PCI slot not detected for Dell OptiPlex 990 using Win10 Pro. The GPU is EVGA GTX960. Installed PSU as well at 550 Watts. The BIOS does not let you to disable the integrated video card. I have done the following.. updated BIOS, reinserted GPU, uninstalled driver and disabled and disconnected cable to integrated video, and tried to use CMD bcdedit/set pciexpress forcedisable.

When booting up new GPU van turns on but then turns off.

    Best Regards,

    Word.

I found this on the Dell site.
Product not tested for Windows 10 upgrade
Dell is not testing or developing Windows 10 drivers for this product. If you choose to upgrade, some features, applications, and connected devices may not work as expected.
These are "business" workstations and as such do not have the flexibility that general PC's have.
You can try the Dell Community desktop forum, but with the limited BIOS options the separate video card may never work.

Thank You for reply. Should I back the OS to Windows 8 or 7? If so how and what do I need.

The video card problem is not OS related, so whatever OS you have, you will have the same problem.
I just posted the Dell Notice as "FYI".

Post your video card question on the Dell forum I linked in my other post. See if someone there has a workaround.

I just looked at the BIOS updates for this model. BIOS Update A03 includes "Enhanced Multi-Display for a special graphics card".
I don't know if that means this BIOS update adds support for a separate video card. Something to consider and maybe ask on the Dell Forum

Thank you, I tried to post on Dell, but it is not as easy as this forum, Tenforums. I will need to do that. Several Youtubes demonstrate it is possible. To verify if it is my motherboard, I purchased a PNY Geforce GT 610 using PCI-E 2.0 and it works. But is only uses the MS driver, even after loading CD with it. But at least I know the PCI-E slot works.

The mother board is Product 06D7TR ver A000, SMBIOS version A18 (9/24/2013). seems pretty old the version.
