No safely remove icon in tray any more after Windows 10 Anniversary up

It has been a week or so after I updated Windows 10 on my Dell E4300 to the Anniversary edition. It has not been a smooth update, many DCOM errors mainly to permission problems and apparently from system user accounts being changed after the update, prolonged hard disk lockups and a few more.
I have resolved almost all of them, but one more remains; there is no longer an icon for safely removing usb devices. In the previous version of Windows 10, my Ricoh card reader (on my laptop), was showing up as a USB device and I had the option to "safely remove" the card from the tray. Now it is gone. It is listed in the device manager under the disk drives. Is this how it should be?
Also, my scanner, whenever I turn it on, no usb icon shows up in the tray area, It works though. Is this how things should be under the Anniversary edition of Windows 10, or should I make a fresh install of Windows 10 or Windows 10 Anniversary?

Mine will only show when there's a memory card connected/plugged in whereas previous versions of Windows I'm sure the icon remained either way. Afaik my scanner has never appeared under safely remove hardware, as there's no risk of corruption of files. The feature is usually for USB HDs, memory cards etc.

Mine is there if I click the ^ in the notifications area. I currently have it set to always be displayed. I quite frequently use thumb drives and like it front and center.

    Hello zanxion, :)

If you like, you could use the shortcut below for now. It can be pinned to the taskbar.

Thank you Brink. It does the trick. I am just nervous just pulling the SD card out without safely removing it. I had a few hard times in the past by doing so.
I have Windows set to show all icons in the tray area, but at least this one pops up only when a few usb devices get mounted.
