Well if that means better, it certainly is here! I'm leaning towards 8551 being the best driver ever, or at least in quite a while.
I personally prefer 8551. After listening for sometimes, I noticed got more clarity than before.

Station-drivers is not a shady site. You can look there.
Furthermore there are non-shady sites that carry the driver. You have to look closely and it's not hard at all to recognize them.

I agree totally ddelo, Station Drivers is a good site with good links to the latest drivers. However I do always run my AV over the downloads from links in their forum, MediaFire has a bad reputation from a few years ago.

    Necacom is another reliable website.

Double ditto. Things have totally transformed! I just had to join this forum to let you guys know how dang good this driver. Although this is not widely reported, Realtek audio devices had a noticeable step down in quality with the release of Windows 10 a few years ago. Prior to this driver release, I had to go in, turn off Connected Standby and switch my Surface to High Performance mode to fix the haze and the compressed dynamic range. Previously, I had confirmed this issue in blind tests of myself and several family members and we could immediately tell there was a distinct difference in audio quality when switching between power plans. But now, on my Surface Pro 4 i7, I listen through my trusty Beyerdynamic T90 headphones and the improvement is immediately noticeable with this latest driver release. Seriously, the audio is crazy good! The Surface Pro 3 and later have already have had audio output with performance rivaling that of many entry-level DACs. This driver release, once and for all, fixes all those pesky Windows 10-related audio hitches and gives me deliciously clear sound without any hacks required. Now, for another round of a happy dance...
