More info and weirdness. It's only the Speakers that are not outputting any windows sounds.
If I select the digital output, I can see some sound activity when I test windows sounds (obviously can't hear it since I have nothing connected to that)
(In the image, I'm clicking the volume control so that it produces sound, and it is being shown in the digital output)
I uninstalled the Realtek and Nahimic Apps but still had not sound so I check Services and found to my surprise the Realtek and Nahimic Services were still Running even with the Apps uninstalled and so I stopped both Services and disabled them and rolled the Driver back to the microsoft HD Audio driver like you and I at least have windows sounds etc working again still not sure why the Realtek and Nahimic stuff isn't working though.
I thought the default was 24bit @ 41000 hz though?

I changed the default. However, reverting to Microsoft drivers is not the issue. I would like the Realtek ones to work properly because the Microsoft drivers do not sound as good.
try going to device manager and updating the drivers from there. First let windows search the internet for drivers and install them if it finds any, than any of the Realtek drivers you want to update to install the same way using the search for on your computer option . Do not use the Realtek installer. Some systems need and earlier version of the drivers installed first than anything after that just installed as upgrades without uninstalling previous driver versions. My system works that way.
Give this a try...
Run troubleshooter
- For help fixing audio or sound problems, try the audio troubleshooter. It might be able to fix audio problems automatically.
- To run the troubleshooter, select the Start button, type Troubleshoot, and then select Troubleshoot from the list of results. Select Playing Audio > Run the troubleshooter.
Hello, better Realtek High Definition Audio or Microsoft High Definition Audio?
