Latest Realtek HD Audio Driver Version
-
I found info about version 6.0.1.8363 but link leads to installation DriverMAX
I saw that too, wait for it to be on MUC.

For some reason, when trying to update to the 6.0.1.8356 version through the Device Manager, it tells me that I already have the best driver installed even though I uninstalled the previous driver.
I have extracted the newest 6.0.1.8356 .CAB file and pointed Windows to the folder that I have the extracted files in. I have downloaded the correct x64 version. There are two "HD Definition Audio-Device" entries in Device Manager and it gives the same error message for both.
Why does this happen?

Do you have an ASUS motherboard? If not, that's most likely the cause for it not updating. 8356 is for ASUS.

Ah, that explains it. I have an Asrock Pro4 Z77 motherboard. Which one is the latest Realtek drivers for my motherboard in the Windows Update Catalog then??

I was indeed considering this one but I hesitated after I read that it's an SST Realtek Audio driver here
Because someone posted the following in this thread about SST Realtek drivers
DO NOT USE THIS 8357 DRIVER! This is only an SST based Realtek driver!
Unless your hardware IDs are the following
And only includes the
HDXSSTHuawei.inf file and Intel SST drivers.
Brink, go back and change the driver version on your 1st post to either 8351 or 8356 (and/or wait for something newer than 8357)
You guys really need to inspect what INF files are included inside these packages and see what IDs they support. Use
7zip to open any CAB file package to check the files inside.

That's 8357, fdegrove suggested 8351.
Try this one, here's the direct link:

The link I posted is about the 8351 being an SST as well. Isn't an SST based driver not recommended anyway, regardless of version number? I might be wrong about this.

I updated to it last week, have no problems.... and never update to SST anyhow....
where's SST in the full description? I don't see it...

You're completely right, apologies! The link is incorrect. I didn't know you could actually click the names on the list to get more info regarding the driver lol. All this time I was wondering how you guys know which driver is for Asus, which is SST, etc.
I'm lucky I didn't break anything by now. Thanks a lot for your help guys!
