Latest Realtek HD Audio Driver Version

An Asus board here, and win10 said 8351 was already best one installed when tried to do 8356.

I can't install this 6.0.1.8356 on Asrock motherboard

actually the 8356 drivers include several INF files that support only subsys IDs beginning with "1043", like my friend's ASUS M5A78L-M LE/USB3 board that uses hardware ID "HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0887&SUBSYS_10438576" - mentioned in the HDXRT4.INF file.

edit: Oooohh! I spotted that hardware ID "HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0887&SUBSYS_104385C8" mentioned in that HDXRT4.INF file ; definitely update the Realtek ALC887 audio driver on my friend's ASUS board to v8356 instead of v8351 since that INF file supports those IDs mentioned.

Microsoft may post up more 8351 and/or 8356 drivers in the future.

Since you have Asus, it wouldn't hurt to install it and take a listen. It could be that something has been tweaked for your specific motherboard. If you don't like how everything sounds, you could always roll back, right? :)

Installed the new driver and i must say that it sounds pretty good actually. Don't know if its better than previous one but this one is a keeper for me. I do think it sounds a little more natural but i am not sure.
