I gave it a try, but it did not change the sound behavior and some Soundblaster software wouldn't recognize the sound card as a compatible device, so I reverted. I have tried with the Soudblaster software uninstalled also.
@Grinning Did you try untying the inputs as Count Mike suggested? they are always tied by default for me so I need to do it each Driver update....
Open RT HD Audio Manager>Gear Icon (top right)>Options>Recording Device> and check separate all inputs
***edit: I realise now my RT HD Audio has an Asus Wrapper on it but on Realtek's Own HD Manager I think it is under the File/Folder icon, top right IIRC.

I don't have the gear icon or the untie inputs settings. Have a look.

Unfortunately they settled on just uninstalling Realtek drivers. I think this might be a Clevo/Sager issue. One of those tradeoffs of getting a gaming laptop instead of a desktop like most normal people do.
Edit: Having said that, I am willing to edit some files if it'll enable the advanced settings option. If anyone is aware of any lines in the registry/ini files/etc I can edit to enable this please tell me. I am willing to hex-edit essential driver files if it's what it takes.

maybe you want the other option under playback devices if you want separate head phone and speaker control ie make the front and rear outputs work simultaneously...

The problem: In Windows, my microphone is detected, but isn't detecting actual audio input anymore. However, in Linux, the input is working perfectly fine.
I have been trying to troubleshoot this problem for a couple of days now, but at this point I have no idea what else to try. It started after reformatting my PC, I just set up a dual-boot system with Windows 10 x64 v1709 17063.1000 on one SSD, and Linux on another SSD. Not sure if it matters or not, but I set up Linux first (I am just getting into it, pretty neat so far) then Windows (not sure if the order could be an issue here or not).
This is weird though, because if I enable "Output Mic In/Line In to front/rear panel" in Realtek HD Audio Manager, I can hear myself talking into my mic (playing through my headphones). However, if I select "Listen to my device" in the Windows Sound settings on the Recording tab, I can't hear anything. My mic has always worked in the past, and I didn't do anything differently compared to previous installations.

It looks like it is combining my separate headphones and microphone and mixing it all together or something, because when I unmute the "FrontMic" option there, I can hear myself talking directly into my headphones: https://i.imgur.com/yMDs8Zt.png

Despite the second option not being selected, it is still mixing my devices up. If I select the second option and uncheck the sub-options (which is what I normally do, since I usually plug my speakers into the rear panel), I no longer hear myself through my mic as expected, but there is still no audio detected in the Recording tab or anywhere else.
Things I have tried: - Removing all audio input/output devices and controllers in Device Manager, rebooting, then installing the Realtek driver listed on my motherboard's website (version 6.0.1.7634). https://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/X99%20Taichi/#Download
- Same as above, except I installed the most recent version listed on this thread (version 6.0.1.8328).
- Same as above, except I didn't install any driver, I let Windows use its default drivers (which are likely Realtek drivers)
- Installing the driver with the devices plugged in, and again with no devices plugged in (not sure if it would make a difference or not)
- Plugged in the front panel, plugged in the back panel
- Made sure the devices are set as default
- Removing and installing the driver in safe mode
- Ran the audio troubleshooter
- Made sure that NVIDIA didn't install its HD Audio drivers
- Reformatted my PC (again)
Some additional errors that may help narrow the problem down is with two programs, Adobe Audition and OBS Studio:
- When trying to use Adobe Audition (I use it to clean my mic sound up when on Discord with friends) it says, "Loading the default input and output devices failed: MME device internal error. Would you like to review Audition's audio hardware preferences?"
- With OBS Studio, it isn't detecting sound from my output/input devices at all (so it isn't recording game/desktop sound, or my mic).
Both programs always worked fine in the past.
Another possible symptom is when clicking on "Set up microphone" under Control Panel --> Speech Recognition, it says "The Wizard could not start. Make sure your audio hardware is working properly and check your audio configuration in the Audio Devices and Sound Themes control panel."
I have no idea what else to try, it doesn't make sense to me. Does anyone have any recommendations? Like I said, the microphone physically is working 100%, as the input is being detected on Linux (the audio bar goes up/down as I speak or make noise).
Not sure if this will help, but in the realtek panel for analog back and front, if you right click on the various ports and select connector retasking you can specify what type of device is connected to which port.

The folder icon opens the option to disable/enable the pop up menu when you insert something in a headphone jack.

The blue icon is the power management/battery menu.
I could not find any sign of the separate headphone/speaker control in playback devices (animated gif to show all the properties of the speaker device).

Only thing I see different from mine is the Stereo Mixer Tab ( and no advanced Options unfortunately) ,
Do the Original OEM Drivers give you different Tabs? (eg from your laptop's download page?) perhaps you need to use those Drivers? at least 1st then use the CAB method (page 1 of thread) to install the newer 8279 Drivers which is what I did on my desktop and why i think I still have the ASUS "Wrapper".
hi, i have a problem from last winter creator update. the audio in my 5.1 denon x1200w "jumps" repeatedly. there are 1 second pauses in which the audio is not transmitted. the amplifier is connected with an optical cable to my asrock z170 extreme 4 and DTS intercative is enabled. if i turn off the dts interactive the problem disappears. if i update the driver, the problem disappears for the first time that i reboot the pc, but after sometimes it returns. if i restore the original driver versione and after update to the latest, the problem disappears for the first reboot but after some times it retunrs. someone know how to fix the problem?

I don't use an AMP / Surround sound receiver but did you check to see if Windows Update is overwriting the Drivers that work "after sometime" ? you can turn off Windows Drivers' updates with the Tutorial here on 10 Forums...I use the .reg file method.
