I've been running that driver for the past 5 days and I'd rate it as one of the best Realtek HD drivers ever.

I'd be interested to hear Brink's or John's view on posting links to Mediafire though.

So just wondering, where do you get that and other versions that are safe?

I don't know about you guys but this driver just won't playback any sound for me. I have BIOSTAR Hi-Fi Z77X motherboard with ALC898 onboard.

Wow, a rating of ever is always awesome! Now just need the DTS-NEO and Dolby unlock as I noticed the two files in this one is a newer version compared to the older versions. Didn't know posting the link was a bad idea as I saw it on laptopvideo2go where I am a retired mod.

It's just that we don't prefer to have links from unknown unofficial sources that could potentially be modified (ex: malware).

I got it through Station Drivers, however the link they gave was the same Mediafire one supplied by Almighty1. After downloading it I did an in depth scan with ESET NOD32 AV and also scanned with Malwarebytes and SUPERAnti Spyware none of which found anything.
It's not surprising that Realtek drivers are cropping up in odd locations now and I lay the blame firmly on Realtek for not making these builds freely available to the public.

    Hi,

That site I use quite a lot myself. They're quite safe most of the time but you still have to be very careful.
Most of the time Defender dus not like it at all. False positives actually.
