The UAD-drivers are much smaller , more important ; Im able to use Dolby with FXSound Enhancer.
I can not do this with the ( bloated) HDA-drivers............

Hi, sorry in advance for this small wall of text (I don't know how to summarize it better).

Last couple of years, I've had 3 different motherboards (Intel DX79SI, Aorus Z270x Gaming K5 and Asrock Z270 Gaming K6), of which I've always used the integrated sound (ALC892 and ALC1220) with Windows-provided drivers and default loudness equalization. I've always been very/mostly satisfied with it.

The problem is, I got the chance to upgrade to an i7 8700k + Asus Maximus X Formula (also with ALC1220 but with BS addon software and features). With this, the Windows-provided drivers don't provide loudness equalization at all, and trying with different Realtek ones (I think I got 2 or 3 of them from this post), the sound profile is MUCH worse at least for what I want it to be how I like it for: playing PUBG. I ended up installing Asus-provided Sonic Studio 3, and tweaking with it I've managed to make it less horrible but it's still not even close to how I like it (I even think it's objectively worse and not about preferences, but I have nobody to check it and agree/disagree with me). I even have stopped playing PUBG (mainly) for this, most of the time I use the sounds more than my eyes (really) and not being able to use the sounds really frustrate me.
I don't want to have to be trying 10s of different driver versions to maybe find, maybe not the one with the sound profile I like.
For music/movies/communications it's good enough how it is.

Does anyone have a clue about what could be wrong/what could I try?

Thank you all very much in advance.

PS: These are the two of the Realtek HD driver versions I've tried: Realtek_Audio(v8051_FF10).zip and 0009-64bit_Win7_Win8_Win81_Win10_R282.exe. I tried more but removed the installers.

What I've noticed is that the method of installing drivers on the main page has issues on some systems. On my system DTS II, the Equalizer and the built in Amplifier don't function and in some driver versions the Realtek Control panel doesn't open at all.

However I found a way around this issue. Using an older driver specifically 7848 , other versions may work however I found version 7525 provided for my MOBO for Windows 7 doesn't work. 7848 is the version provided by ASUS on their website for Windows 10 for my specific MOBO, you may have to try other versions for other chipsets. I don't think the latest version provided on the Realtek website works(R2.82 8186), for me personally using that installer breaks the Realtek Manager before installing any other updated drivers.

Step 1: Uninstall all audio drivers.
Step 2: Install Realtek Driver version 7848 using the proper Realtek installer.
    Step 3: Restart.
Step 4: Keep the 7848 driver installed.
Step 5: Download the newest Driver supported by your system from the Windows update site.
Step 6: Extract the CAB file.
Step 7: Go to your device manager, find the Realtek High Definition Audio device.
Step 8: Right click the device, select update driver.
Step 9: In the new window select "Browse my computer for driver software".
    Step 10: Click Browse.
Step 11: Locate the extracted driver folder, click Ok.
Step 12: Click next, wait for the drivers to install.
Step 13: Click close and restart the computer.

Now the Realtek Manager and all of its functions should work.
There is one exception but that may be an issue limited to my system, for me personally the built in amplifier only works on the back port if I switch the Amplifier setting to Auto Switch, it doesn't work on the front port regardless of setting.

    Hope this helps someone.

    Thank you for this !!
I tried many things and went in the end to UAD with nahimic. But i'm not a fan of nahimic, even their V3. And in the end, nahimic still had the problem of sucking your CPU out (70% os 7700hq used by nahimic service ... known issue).
But when reinstalling HDA drivers, impossible to get realtek audio manager.
Then your holy method came to light and here was the manager !

For me, on MSI laptop ge72 it worked with realtek 7440 to get audio manager and then updating with 8199 from Microsoft catalog (same version on MSI website but with nahimic) .

    So thank you mate.

I wonder if Realtek are focusing more on UAD drivers lately...
on other forums I've noticed there are quite a bit of new updates, almost daily.

Btw, could someone explain to me why I would want or need one of those UAD drivers if I already have the usual HD Audio driver?

Does A-volute have anything to do with realtek?

For some reason I had 2 updates come through windows update

    A-Volute Extension

    A-Volute SoftwareComponent

I don't know what these are besides something to do with audio I saw from google, also I went to my Realtek Console to see if anything was changed or whatever and it was then saying my pc wasn't supported when I had used it sometime a few weeks ago.

So I tried looking into the Windows Store and there was a update so I did that now I'm just getting "Can not Connect to RPC service." Now I'm not sure what to do to fix it.
