I just wish Realtek would go back to a simple universal driver.
Isn't that the one on realtek's own website that's only updated once a year or every other year?

I think that Brink was thinking more along the lines of the drivers we used to download from the Realtek ftp server.
    Apologies if I'm wrong @Brink

If I'm not mistaken, the Realtek Universial Audio Driver is AC97... but, that hasn't been updated for years.

Agreed asturias7 but when we had access to the Realtek ftp there was no problem about drivers not being compatible with different builds of windows. I feel that Microsoft have complicated matters by splitting driver files up into stupidly small increments so that you have a different version for each build of Windows 10 wnen it's not necessary at all for us. I presume it's purely a Microsoft internal thing to make it easier for them to push out updates when needed. I really don't blame them for that as it makes the MS employees jobs faster and automatic updates faster.
What we need is for the Public Directory of the Realtek ftp back.

Agreed. Plus, lately they've been pushing out updates with such frequency... it complicates things, a lot.
And like I've posted here before, lately I've found myself just doing a hit and miss type of thing...
I don't even look at the Supported Hardware IDs anymore. If it's anywhere between 137 and 139 MB, it usually works for what I have.

    Hi,

What we need is for the Public Directory of the Realtek ftp back.
But then most of us accessed it using a "borrowed" username and password, right ?
Plus, it was a terribly slow service as well.
Like anyone else I'm still perplexed by the frequency of these updates and it's anybody's guess what these are actually for ??

    Cheers,

They change drivers faster than changelog could be written.
