I've rolled back to 8412, I don't like how everything sounds with 8419...
on my system the treble is piercing and the bass sounds muffled up.

    Btw, 6.0.1.8417 now available...
14.1 MB option is listed as Realtek, while 10.1 MB option is listed as Huawei.

Wow I have not been here for several weeks since I was fixing my custom built PC that had a busted motherboard and I replaced it with a Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 R2 board, which uses a Realtek ALC892 HD audio chipset and a Gigabyte version of the Realtek audio control panel shown below:

Name:	gigabyte-realtek-audio-cpl(ga-78lmt-usb3-r2).png
Views:	6
Size:	328.6 KB

this Gigabyte board uses hardware ID "HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0892&SUBSYS_1458A182" and the Realtek driver is installed thru the HDXRtGi.INF file cuz that INF file lists that specific ID.

Hardware device IDs are very unique are like pure gold to me, that's why I value them more than anyone else in these forums.

Note to Brink: here are the direct links to the v6.0.1.8412 CAB file downloads for 32bit & 64bit versions, which I know the 64bit 139Mb size version was briefly mentioned one day but later removed from an MS Update Catalog search [I bookmarked the link from another PC that I was using].

    v6.0.1.8412 - (32bit/x86) 79.6Mb, (64bit/x64) 139Mb - these can be installed under any Windows 10 release, including the RTM/1507 (build 10240) version

open any of these CAB files in 7zip or any file archiving tool, extract one of the HDA*.INF or HDX*.INF file inside and view the INF file in Notepad.

And latest driver from MS Update Catalog for Win10 RS3 (aka Fall Creators Update) is v6.0.1.8425 but it's not a full featured driver. Also the INF files included inside mention the strings like this:

    [Manufacturer]
    %MfgName% = AzaliaManufacturerID, NTamd64.10.0...15063

    [AzaliaManufacturerID.NTamd64.10.0...15063]
which means the drivers only install under Win10 build 15063 (aka RS2 or Creators Update) and greater and cannot be installed/used under older Win10 releases & older versions of Windows.

I can also install v6.0.1.8425 onto the Gigaybte GA-78LMT-USB3 R2 motherboard since 8425 does support hardware ID "HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0892&SUBSYS_1458A182" & was listed in the HDXGigabyte.INF file but I'll only get basic audio features & no Realtek audio control panel and no enhancements included. My custom built PC with that Gigabyte board now uses Win10 Pro x64 RS3 (fall creators update)

I just wish Realtek would go back to a simple universal driver.

problem is, what versions of Windows will the so-called "universal" realtek driver support? some newer realtek audio drivers I find from MS Update Catalog seem to sometimes support only newer versions of Win10 and not older versions of Windows

and another problem: some PC Manufacturers like Dell and Fujitsu PC provide customized Realtek audio drivers with Waves MaxxAudio software in them and the Maxxaudio software is required on certain Dell & Fujitsu laptops for the sound to work correctly and using basic or universal Realtek drivers may not work correctly on these specific machines. here's a customized v6.0.1.8403 driver pack from Dell and a customized v6.0.1.8383 driver from FMWorld.net (for certain Fujitsu laptops) that include the Waves Maxxaudio integration & application software.

can you tell what hardware device ID your ASUS motherboard is using for the Realtek audio device?
does the ASUS version of the Realtek HD audio control panel look like the following?

I have this one on a friend's ASUS M5A78L-M LE/USB3 motherboard, which uses Realtek ALC887 audio chipset with hardware ID "HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0887&SUBSYS_10438576" and the driver is installed thru the HDXRT4.INF file (not thru HDXRT.inf).

I see this under Realtek High Definition Audio Properties on the Details tab:

    HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0892&SUBSYS_10438436&REV_1003
    HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0892&SUBSYS_10438436

And my Panel does not look like that.

I'm also considering a new Creative SoundBlaster, I just gotta research what's Creative been up to lately. The last dedicated sound card that I bought was a PCI Auzentech X-Fi Prelude 7.1. That was a long time ago.
