I'm on the 8403 from a few weeks back. So I can't upgrade to this more recent one because my ID for it is dev_0900?
Okay so I believe i have identified my HP audio control app, I guess a/k/a the Realtek HD Audio Manager, as this 9 MB file here in the Realtek folder (at that time sitting in a flash drive):
If I delete that from the folder, the Realtek driver still seems to work, its just the HP audio control is gone, and I only have the basic driver properties thing to play with, which offers no enhancements or equalizing (which I don't mind).
If I were to update to a new driver (after having deleted the file from old driver) that will be automatically found If I let the computer search online for it, the new driver will have the HP audio control again. It's like it finds a driver that is just like this one that has this app but a little more newer.
When I tried to update to the absolute newest driver using cab file, this also worked with the HP audio control panel. But I hadn't deleted it from the older driver yet.... did it simply grab that from the older driver? How did this new driver find the HP audio control panel?
If i did the same but deleted the HP audio control file first before updating, do you think it might offer a different audio manager or none at all?
Also, could I delete this file and replace it with another that is a different or a more generic Realtec audio manager and would it work?
Which one are you guys using? 24-bit, 48KHz or 192KHz or?
24-bit, 48KHz. 192khz is waste of cpu cycles.
16 bit, 44100. Any more is a pointless waste of resources unless you're doing recording/mixing/mastering of music or something...and even then once it's mastered, I save it as 16/44100.
You can not hear the difference in 16/44.1 and 24/48....at all. Period. I don't care if you're Superman. You can't. Also, almost everything you play back is only 16/44.1 audio to begin with, and setting your sound card higher will not result in any improvement to it. So unless you're playing a 24 bit, 48000 file to begin with, it is 100% pointless setting your sound card higher, and even if it is 24 bit, 48000 audio with the sound card set the same, I will bet my left one you can not tell the difference from 16/44.1.
@boombastik , @IntelliMoo, & @Quexos Thanks for the feedback.
I have ASRock Z270 with the Creative integration. The SoundManager that is bundled with this driver is very limited. Basically, I want to be able to remap my audio jacks and cannot do it with this software. I really do not use the creative software right now.
After wading through some of these past 40 or so pages I understand a little about the device Id and some drivers not working with my board. Is there a way to install drivers and get the full function SoundManger that I remember from my old board?
Thanks !!
