    6.0.1.8403 now available:
    Microsoft Update Catalog

    For: AMD64 , ARM , ARM64 , IA64 , X86
Been trying these out @asturias7 and finding them quite good so I'll keep them on for now.
Realtek seem to be pretty consistent now, we haven't had any vile sounding ones for quite a while now :)

    Hi, I proceeded as follows:
    1) Uninstall old Realtek driver
    2) Restart computer with disable driver signature verification
    3) Install new driver from Station Driver
    4) Replace RltkAPO.dll and RltkAPO64.dll
    5) Restart computer
Do you have patched RltkAPO.dll and RltkAPO64.dll? I can send you in PM.
    Hi KevinarCZ,
Thank you for your guide! As i have only 1 day rookie, i can not send PM until 4 days pass, beause of forum rules (i try to PM but i get a message for that).
    - Could you please send me the patched RltkAPO.dll and RltkAPO64.dll?
Can i use them in every update or i need to update regular the
patched RltkAPO.dll and RltkAPO64.dll files from somewhere?
    Best wishes!!!

Can I use any recent realtek high definition audio driver version on my laptop?

There are a couple of versions of the driver on the HP site to download for my model laptop (one for Win 10 version 1709 and one earlier) and also if I update the driver it will install the most recent one. The HP ones sound pretty similar - not bad - the most recent one locks the enhancements on something called HP Audio Control to on which sounds terrible. HP audio control which came with the laptop looks and acts a lot like DTS audio control. Anyway, I know of a version of the driver that sounds pretty good on another model laptop. Can I try that one on my laptop? It won't damage it or anything? Thanks.

Added: Another question. I use my laptop with a 2.1 speaker setup - two satellite speakers and a subwoofer plugged into the headphone jack. In HP Audio Control (and in Configure of realtek driver) there is an option to select "full range" speakers. Should I not select that since the two satellite speakers are not full range (there is a subwoofer that handles bass)? It defaults to being selected.

It might be my imagination but it seems to sound better unselected.

I agree. Lately the updates have been pretty good and this one is no exception.

I'm pretty sure the latest updates shouldn't ruin anything on your laptop.
Try the latest one I posted here (above).

Re your speaker setup: if your speakers aren't full range, might as well not select the option since you say everything sounds better unselected.

I'll try that one thanks. I'm using version... 8117. I was thinking of a specific one ... 6.0.1.7730.. I think it is a couple years old..that's one I know from another laptop that sounds good.

Update: I downloaded the latest one, 8403, extracted the cab file but when I selected the folder from update the driver in realtek driver it stated the best drivers for my device are already installed. It wouldn't take it. Probably I'm doing something wrong.

Added: now it seems checking full range makes it sounds a little better... slightly fuller, its very subtle. Still not sure if my imagination or not.

    I have another question.

My laptop as I mentioned comes with a program called HP audio control (it looks just like DTS audio control which I've had in the past). It seems to be a part of any realtec driver that gets installed on the laptop. There is no way to uninstall it (it is not in add/remove programs) other than to uninstall the driver. But once the driver - whether its the latest one my computer will naturally snag if I "update driver".. which if I remember correctly was .8383.. or the two on the HP site are installed, this HP audio control program comes back.

It doesn't sound bad at all as long as enhancements stay off and it obeys those settings which is not always the case depending on the driver. I was wondering though, is it possible to remove this program and either download something else or just control sound through the basic realtec driver windows? To do so does it require a specific realtec driver that does not have this HP audio control attached which so far my laptop seems reluctant to install? Or is it somehow built into the laptop? Thanks!
