Windows 10: Latest Realtek HD Audio Driver Version

  1.    25 May 2017 #591

I see i have achieved this once on a alienware system from dell, but with the full realtek installer from realtek website but that is a super old version still i think, i don't think realtek has put out a full driver release since MS started doing the updating of drivers, i think what we been getting is what they do now. Unless they have a full version and are just not sticking it on there site. But i get now what you mean you want to switch to the full realtek version with the sound manager from realtek. which i have done, one way you will have to do though is, uninstall the dell versions completely remove them from your system, entirely even from the folder they are stored in, or when you install the realtek one you will get a dell sound manager, as realtek will bring that back. you have to completely remove all traces of the dell audio for it to work. make sure you backup system before so you don't break it. I have done it on alienware dell, with the version off the website, once you do this, you can upgrade to the new current one and keep the sound manager from realtek as well. NOTE back up like i said you do this entirely at your own risk and note that it can break your audio completely if it does not work, use something like revo uninstaller they make a free one, uninstall dell audio from there remove all reg entries it shows, and remove the folder, then install realtek driver of the realtek site, and the update it, but back up before doing.

yes tony thats exactly it, the last dell driver release to allow that is i believe is R2.66 which in fact several years old. I have done it myself several times. the problem is that with windows updating from Win 7, to Win 8, Win 8.1 and several versions of win 10 I always have to revert back to R2.66 if i want that interface and it gets tedious with Microsoft updating windows so often

eventually you just accept that you cant always get what you want and accept what you get.... I just wish you could get the best interface with the best sounding driver at the same time.....but realtek doesnt give you that option
