I agree totally with those comments asturias7.
I installed the version from the MUC which is a generic driver and doesn't contain any Dolby stuff

Cool, so it's not just my own ears that hear the difference.

I updated to 8135 on 2 PCs and a laptop and can detect some sound improvement on all 3. May stick with this driver a while until one comes along people here say is better.

Microphone volume seems to be very low even with the 30db boost on also.
I don't understand what happened, just reinstalled windows today is the creator's update the fault?

That option is determined by driver, which one is installed and on which MB ?
I am using the 8135 driver and the Maximus Ranger 7 motherboard (ALC 1150) which worked fine.
Now the mic volume is two times lower than it was normally.

As CountMike posted it's all down to the driver version and what mobo you have. I suggest you try out some different versions of the Realtek HD Audio driver and see if any perform correctly for you.
I'm running Creators Update and have no problems with Realtek Driver version 6.0.1.8135, however I've had no problem with Realtek drivers for the last eight years apart from the occasional one that sounded bad.
Have a look here and try a few out. Microsoft Update Catalog
