Yes it's OK to update the drivers.
Hi,
A clean install can be done using the version with the setup routine. That will remove the present version prior to installing the new one.
Or just use the drivers only, the old ones are set aside in "Windows\Last Good" which you can delete afterwards if you like.
You would still need some software like Rapr (AKA Driver Explorer) to truly remove the old version though.
Cheers,
For me -8279 better 8302 with my Creative XI-Fi mb5.Best bass
8302 lack of punchy, not rich enough & treble also weak, but I prefer sticking with the latest version as always.
I have not supported native motherboard Gigabyte ga-970-ud3p and add my id audio chip to xdxmb3hd.inf file and !!!! USE OLD MBAPO232.DLL AND MBAPO264.DLL on Windows /system32,Windows/Syswow64.!! With dll from latest 8032 drivers MBAPO232 and MBAPO264 device not recognized !!Change MBAPO232 and MBAPO264 after install 8032 drivers in folder Windows /system32 and windows/syswow64 to old version 1.2.16.101.Its latest dll with Gigabyte support and many another motherboard. This dll on my google disk Creative.rar - Google Drive
After spending almost 1 week of testing - this is my result:
Z370 Gigabyte Aorus Gaming 7 (ALC1220)
6.0.1.8210 (Gigabyte website) - If I install these from Gigabyte website.. I can use EQ but I have huge mic problem + echo on TeamSepak/Discord and Skype (discord prob - Clyp - recorded by my friends on Discord).
6.0.1.8281 (Gigabyte website) - Sound sounds pretty flat and I can not use EQ in Realtek Manager (not even in build in Windows EQ in Sound devices). Changes does not apply. But no microphone + echo problem.
6.0.1.8295 (from Microsoft update catalog) - same as 8281 (can not change EQ, but no microphone problem)
6.0.1.8302 (from Microsoft update catalog) - a bit better sound but everything almost the same as 8281 (can not change EQ, but no microphone problem)
Everything works with USB headset, but I need to use 3,5mm jacks only on my headset.
I tried to do it again - Couldnt find the XDXNB3HD.INF to modify and couldnt locate the installed version of MBAPO, and placing the old ones into the Windows SYS 32 and SYSwow64 didnt work. So the Creative app wouldnt run correctly.
But I did uninstall all old Realtek drivers and Sonic Studio drivers while I was at it and now that I have put it back to sonic studio working order, it sounds better than before. I probably wont mess with trying to change to creative again unless someone wants to make an idiots guide for doing it as I spend WAY to much time each time I try to get this crap working. lol
