Latest Realtek HD Audio Driver Version

I recently updated my drivers through my manufacturer's website. They install version 6.0.1.8627. For some reason, this driver version does not function. I get no sound out of my external speakers, with a test failed message when I test. I have an external USB amp connected for my headphones, and those work with these drivers. If I rollback the drivers, sound works from my external speakers.

I have seen mention that driver version 8648, work great and seem to be preferred. My question is, where do I download them? The first post on this page points to the latest drivers. I'm skeptical about just downloading them from some strange website, so I'm asking here. Running the Windows PowerShell query to get my current information, shows the following:

The Hardware ID of the Audio device is: HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0887&SUBSYS_1462D850&REV_1003

This is the place, where most people in here get the newest driver from, as Realtek does not publish the new versions to general public.
Whether you choose to use it, is entirely up to you!

Funny story. With no driver installed, device manager has my built-in Realtek HD Audio as High Definition Audio Device, using a driver from Microsoft, released 9/7/2018, driver version 10.0.17134.319. Well, it sounds better than any driver from Realtek I have ever used. Typically I always install my drivers right away. Never thought to test things out with just the generic stuff.

Interesting issue I am now running into. I still get no sound after installing the driver. I wish I could remember the older driver version that worked. I wished I had it to install.

I have tried installing versions 8648 or 8694 and no luck. I'm installing from the folder that contains FF00, as per the PowerShell query to identify.

With no driver, I have sound.

You can get it from here and reinstall it.

It was an older one than that one. I updated to that from my manufacturer's website, which caused no sound. I remember I had this issue, but I kept the old one around to revert to. Unfortunately, I must have removed the very old working driver installation from my computer.
