To my ears build 8152 have a lot fuller sound than the last few releases, there's still plenty of detail though. They sound great when playing reggae
Agreed. So Far I'm really liking this latest version.

Why is it that installing through device manager never fully installs anything? I don't have a sound manager in my notification area after installing the latest audio driver via device manager. Why can't we just have a normal setup file...

Either go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Realtek HD Audio Manager

    or

    C:\Program Files\Realtek\Audio\HDA and open RAVCpl64.exe file.

as s0urce said, look for the RAVCpl64.exe file and run it directly ot open the Realtek HD Audio manager control panel. OR try running the RtkNGUI64.exe file. On certain ASUS, Gigabyte & MSI motherboards, I had to run the RtkNGUI64.exe file instead of the RAVCpl64.exe file to open the Realtek audio control panel (this was the case with my friend's ASUS M5A78L-M LE/USB3 board - the control panel UI looked different than the regular Realtek audio control panel)

on the other hand, I get NO control panel app whatsoever when installing ANY version of the Realtek HD Audio drivers on my brother's Sony Vaio VPCEB laptop, no audio tray icon & no control panel. Running RAVCpl64.exe on the Sony Vaio laptop does absolutely nothing - I guess it's a limitation with the Realtek audio drivers.

I did make a recent comment on the Station Drivers forum that many of the 81xx drivers no longer have Creative SBC/SBX, Maxx Audio & Nahimic audio integration in them, perhaps to reduce the "bloat" in their driver packages. It remains to be seen if the upcoming R2.82 package will bring back the Creative SBC/SBX-Fi MB, MaxxAudio & Nahimic APO integration files.

In my case only the RAVCpl64.exe file opens the Realtek HD Audio Manager control panel.

    The
    RtkNGUI64.exe file does nothing.

It all depends on the motherboard i guess. That's why in my case i always get the old UI and none of the new ones we've seen here lately which are probably using
    RtkNGUI64.exe

Are you guys sure there is any difference between 8152 and other drivers?
It's kinda complicated when there are no changelogs anywhere...

I rely on my ears. For me build 8152 are superior to any of the earler versions. Depends what you are using them for though. I only use Realtek drivers for mp3s and videos. For everything else I use a USB headset.
