I'd love to see what format Microsoft receive these files from Realtek in. Are they in kit form
the 10.2Mb & 14.2Mb size 8447 downloads are UAD based drivers designed for newer Realtek audio chipsets on motherboards/laptops made probably in late 2017/early 2018.

10.2Mb download has HDXClevo.inf & HDXWHITE.inf files - checked inside 7zip (use this cab pack on certain Clevo based laptops only); the 14.2Mb download, on the other hand, has more INF files, including HDXRT.inf.

there are also two more 8447 downloads using the "classic" [non-UAD] or "legacy" HD audio driver interface (138.4Mb & 139.9Mb). the 139.9Mb cab download has certain Conexant APO DLL files included [perhaps used on some Realtek audio chips on certain HP computers]

I've checked all of these 8447 downloads myself since I have a cable internet connection.

Note to Brink - v6.0.1.8432 32bit & 64bit "generic" non-UAD downloads both available from MS Update Catalog [you can now replace the older 8393 downloads]

edit: check out this interesting post on the Station-Drivers forum - someone mentioned a link to the new Realtek audio control UWP app in the Microsoft Store but it doesn't work on most Realtek audio devices - only on new audio devices using the new Realtek UAD driver.

Thanks, as always, erpster for the explanation.
Indeed, the 139.9Mb cab option works quite well on my HP.

I have tried many different version for my ALC 889 realtek audio chip, and most don't work, the ones that do work only provide 2.0 channels.

The drivers install without an error but never shows 5.1 dolby option once installed. How do I fix this?

The 139.9 MB of the 6.0.1.8447 driver with the Conexant Audio Processing Objects (APO) sounds a lot better, than the old 6.0.1.7944 HP provided and had a lot of problems since the Anniversary Update!
No distortion any more, fuller sound!

My verdict: I'll give ★★★★★ to the 6.0.1.8447 driver

Agreed, So far this is the best update for HP PCs.

I want to cry. I've bought a new motherboard, ASUS ROG STRIX X470-F, it comes with a newfangled 1220A audio codec. Functioning audio is extremely important to me as I have lots of audio conferences online. I've tried so many different drivers, currently I am on 6.0.1.8447, installed from the link on the first page, and used the HDXASNahimic.inf to install the drivers.

My problem: the front microphone input has constantly choppy or volume-modulating levels. I can talk really quieTALLOFASUDDENITSREALLYLOUdwaitnoitsquietagain. I've tried combinations of "Tie up same type of input jacks" or "Separate all input jacks", I've tried the other options for "mute the rear device when front headphone is plugged in" and "make front and rear output devices playback two different audiostreams", I've got my sound format @ 16bit/48kHz (default).

I don't know what to do. I've already ordered a Xonar DGX because it's that bad, but I have to wait two more days. This is my
first upgrade since a 2600K some 6 or 7 years ago, and am regretting it

Does anyone have this same issue? I've seen it posted around (for example here: ALC1220 Sound Issue) but I haven't found a fix. When I stumbled upon the newer drivers here I thought I would be saved, but no, it is not good at all.

I have same CODEC chip in my Asus Prime x370 Pro and no problems with setup like this:

Although I use some cheap mics, not some fancy high impedance ones.

I'm not using a high impedance mic (I think... its an old Astro A40 headset, maybe 6 years old at this point, its never given me an issue). Are you using front or rear jacks? I filed an issue with ASUS support, we'll see what they say.
