MUC added two new options for 8318 (32-bit and 64-bit) "for testing" and without that FMAPP application I was discussing earlier...

I'm back on build 8279 now, it's still the best sounding for my system :)
DooGie, I've been trying to find said drivers in MUC but I only get these ones:

The 76,4MB ones are x86, the 41,4MB are x64 but they don't work. And the 279,8MB is SST and my motherboard won't admit it because it isn't Intel, reading a while back I saw an image where the 8279 were about ~130MB

    What could've happened there?

I've just checked that out and you are correct. I'm sorry but I can't explain what's happened.

    Hi,

X64 software is normally about twice as big as x86 ones. Something's definitely not kosher there.

    Cheers,

That really looks odd Frank, I've no idea what's happened there

    Pardon if I interrupt...
could you tell me what Windows 10 you have, if you have the Creators Update or Fall Creators Update installed?
I might have a working link for you, if they will allow me to pass the link here.

    I got you.

Here's the MS catalog link to the x64 131 MB version of the 8279 driver. I don't know why it doesn't show up in the index, guess they updated Windows 10 on the server. :)

Thank you! Sunspark, DooGie, fdegrove and asturias7 for the quick answers, I actually downloaded it from softpedia (it appeared as Realtek HD Audio 6.0.1.8279) and it actually took me to the link you just posted.

I installed it over the 6.0.1.8036 I had laying around and everything went well. Then I used pnputil to remove the 6.0.1.8036 and everything seems to be ok. I'll see if uninstalling everything and doing a fresh install of the .8279 makes a difference.

    Thanks, again!

You're welcome! :) Out of curiosity, what is the value in using pnputil? For this driver I have only ever used the uninstall from the control panel method.. supposedly the Realtek uninstaller is very thorough.
