You could try replacing the laptop weak build-in speakers with external speakers. This is not really convenient for a laptop, but the external speakers' amplifier should give louder sound than the laptop, provided they are not too cheap. You could also use earphones, they usually sound louder than the build-in speakers. I would try to uninstall any Realtek software, restart and then reinstall the latest official driver and see if that works.

PS: The Dolby Digital installation looks like custom non-official audio drivers. Use with caution. If it doesn't work, remove it and install Realtek drivers.

just try the latest realtek drivers from here Realtek
micro quality depend on your hardware in laptop

for louder audio you can try to install dolby theatre
follow the steps from this video.
How to install Dolby Sound in windows 10, 8 ,7. (100% work in windows 10,8,8.1) - YouTube
    it's working for me
I tried all the latest driverd from Realtek. I think the microphone is a software problem as it's low volume in Skype and Oovoo only and working ok in windows recorder.

I'll try to install dolby to see if it increases volume of the sound

I use both quality external speakers and earphones and still have a low sound after Anniv. Update, both ext. speakers and earphones work just fine with my other laptop which has Windows 7. I did try the latest official driver as well as all the drivers that other said had a good sound quality, none gives me any sound at all. I uninstalled the old driver, restarted installed the new one, restarted again and nothing. I only get sound with version 7620.

I guess, I'll try to uninstall the 10.0.14393.0 version which is listed under speakers and install the latest version there too and see what's gonna happen

Uninstall any Realtek driver, restart, then go to Device Manager, expand Audio inputs and outputs, select and delete (uninstall) any Realtek related entry there. Also expand Sound, video and game controllers and delete any Realtek entry from there as well. Now install the latest Realtek driver and restart. If you still hear no sound, then probably your Realtek device is a customized one and only notebook manufacturer's drivers work. Realtek drivers work only with devices designed to their original specifications, not customized. If the older driver works OK I see no reason upgrading. I recommend using the show/hide tool to hide (block) any Realtek updates, so Windows Update won't mess with the audio card.

Still think that's the best sounding one, even with my lousy speakers. My old Pickering headphones sound great with it!

Maybe Realtek hired a bunch of retired sound engineers from the '70s!

Pickering ? Gosh, I'm getting old....

Used to toy with their carts when I was still living at my parents' place. Not just Pickering though, Shure, Stanton, Empire etc.

8004 is a keeper for now for sure.

    Cheers,
