Windows 10: Latest Realtek HD Audio Driver Version
Sorry, I had a quick look through it and deleted anything I thought was personal.
Here you go:
That's much better. the MAC addr is unique to your machine and should never be given out. @DooGie asked for it, so let him have a look.
Yeh I noticed it also had my windows key in it! Dodgy advice from @DooGie ..
Don't think there was anything intended. It's a common boo-boo when using any system data extraction tool. I've done it myself. That's why Speccy included the PUBLISH option, to avoid just that.
Just installed 7986. To me it sounds smoother has a warmer deeper bass, kinda valve like. Nice.
That was the thing I noticed. Less apparent distortion with bass. My speakers ain't the greatest, but I did notice.
Giving away one's MAC address is no big deal. What can you imagine would possibly happen ? Any program running with standard privileges can get any NIC's MAC address on the local computer. Being used for local network communications they have no remote use, and are easy to fetch in the network neighbourhood.
Tbh I see one use, that's for software licenses, but heck, if someone wants to bind one's license to Showbiz's MAC address, isn't that a bit masochistic ?
Concerning the product key, it refers to a license that's already bound to several hardware numbers so in theory it's unusable by anyone else, unless they manage to get all those numbers and fake them, but then it's only Microsoft that's screwed.
But I agree here, that's the theory, what would happen if someone with the product key phones MS and convinces them to rebind the license ? That's basically why I don't appreciate that sticker on my computer. It's possible to remove it, but MS says the license isn't valid as long as the sticker isn't applied.
There's also the possibility of a partial rebind (part of the hardware changed), and I guess that's why since the anniversary update it's possible to bind the license to a Microsoft account, and significant hardware changes on the license won't be accepted otherwise.
It was only pointed out as good, safe computing practice. Like not putting your password on a sticky note attached to your screen. That was all.
I agree that's an acceptable precautionary approach, but if it ever happens, it's not catastrophic. It just seems to me that you overreacted.
In case I offended you, please accept my apologies ! I will watch myself more carefully from now on
@Showbiz, after looking through the Speccy report and your other screenshots I would confirm what NovHak posted here Latest Realtek HD Audio Driver Version - Page 162 - Windows 10 Forums.
The Realtek HD drivers are not compatible with your soundchip as yours is an HW chip and requires the HW codecs which you already have installed.
