that one and still cant find newer than 8491.. its ****ed up
Appears to be a variant of the ALC1150 just like my Asus X99 shown in my pic above.....your subsys number is a bit different. Perhaps the issue is the Asus Variant part? my guess is that the newer Generic Drivers don't have the "Variant ID" in them so they won't install, but someone on the Station Drivers Thread may mod them for you if you post over there...worth a post anyway.

Do a Google search for Station Drivers or Necacom. Both websites have the latest updates.

retarded device manager wont let me install any of these LOL.. even from .inf.. from catalog or their site..

edit: i think next time i'll buy msi cause this pisses me off asus support for drivers is beyond garbage
I think you need to uninstall the existing drivers first, reboot and then install the new drivers from either the bundled setup.exe file or from device manager.
That is what I always do.

HwID: HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0900&SUBSYS_1043857E mentioned in HDXROG.INF file according to the Drp.su site.

I never install new driver from Device Manager on top of old one as that sometimes does not update the drivers.

go to the Station Drivers forum and download the 8549 HDA driver from there - they have it.
maybe 8549 may appear on MUC sometime next week. anyway I'm skipping 8549 because it is less than 8550.
I'll wait for a Realtek driver greater than 8550 to be available.

ah nuts, just recently caught a cold and will try to get some rest (and will get well soon).

The above drp.su site is being blocked by Malwarebytes due to a PUP .......

Necacom also has 8549 ...note the blue download "button" is not a button actually just the label above the driver.

8544 is very neutral, good for speech, but I like a little warmer body. 8541 is better in this respect. Both of these are balanced.

8549 doesn't seem as balanced, seems to have a bit too much sound pressure in some areas.

Stayed with 8541 on an ALC283.

I wonder what it is that Realtek is doing. We've had this conversation before, some say that there is no difference between any version, but some of us feel like that there are differences. So between 41 and 44 and 49, these are not major revision numbers.. what could Realtek possibly be doing that they pump out incremental revisions so frequently?

Support for new hardware, CODEC, DAC; and improvements for things like Sonic Radar, Sonic Studio(ASUS) for gamers to hear direction of sound?
