Anyway..here's a screenshot of what I DID install for what good it will do...

Are you guys just installing drivers only? Are they coming from MS Update Center?

I've noticed I get a totally different appearance of the HD Audio Manager on my Toshiba P855 laptop from what's on my Gigabyte motherboard PCs using the same software. Never did understand that. I've just supposed that the manufacturer must have something to do with it.
Try rolling back the driver or do a System Restore to the latest Restore Point before the update happened. I think it was posted that the 2.81 driver from the Realtek site was the last to have the Audio Manager. If you installed 2.82 over the top, then this function gets destroyed. The files are still there on the machine, but somewhere in the registry gets blocked to function for whatever stupid reason.
If you get back to the way it was before and update the drivers from MS Update and NOT from Realtek you should be able to still have the Audio Manager in the tray once you launched the RAVCpl64.exe. The registry hack I made and posted is independent from the driver as it is based on a standalone CLSID created from scratch that points to the RAVCpl64.exe and placed into the Windows Control Panel. Even if you uninstall the drivers completely, it will still be there, but without function. The reason why this didn't work for you is because the 2.82 Realtek Driver cut the ties somewhere in the registry to allow the RAVCpl64.exe to function, and this eliminated everything. I have no idea where this is located in the registry that tells it not to work, because if I knew where and how, I would have reversed it already.
Like I said, I do not get what the ridiculously inept reason is behind this. Some people don't care about having the Audio Manager working or not, but some do. I am one of them. It just makes me mad to take away choice. I don't see the negative effects to leave it alone.

I downloaded the cab file from MSU and extracted the file with winzip, Updated the drivers via Device Manager and it's all there and working.

I don't understand why they (Realtek) took it out either. I liked it and used it to make quick changes now and then.

    Thanks for the help!

I just got done installing the Win 10 Creators update. So I figured I'd update the Realtek sound driver. My sound level decreasing on YT and other sites was a factor too. When I try to install the .cab 8279 drivers I get a message saying the best drivers are already installed but there may be newer drivers through Windows Update. The driver version I show as currently installed is "6.0.1.8036". Haven't run into this issue when updating previously.

I'm running Win 10 (64 Bit) on a Dell 7559 Laptop.I followed the easier install directions that have been linked to in this thread. I chose the smallest file. Should I have chosen a different one from the list?

Always click on each option and that will open a box with the details, then choose which one is best for you.
In your case, with Creators Update installed, and a 64-bit system, you should choose the one I've highlighted in yellow, as seen in this pic below (click on the pic to enlarge)...

I would be very careful on updating Realtek audio drivers. Last time i did it it completely ruined my audio in Windows 10 fall creators update..

I am currently running the driver version from Asus website 6.0.1.8090 which is the only one working for me as of now.

Yay I get to be first for a change...
    Microsoft Update Catalog.
This goes to all realtek drivers and is sorted by date... WE GOT A NEW ONE!
8295 is on MUC in both 32bit and 64bit and... well... they have a ton of drivers on there for this release. I suggest getting the 131MB version as that it the 64bit.

Going to test them out with the new nvidia driver....

Edit:These realtek drivers will ask you to restart after they complete installing. There is also a 8296 on MUC, I would not download this driver as it is probably a specialized driver for a one off mobo.
