I agree, Realtek have done what we were talking about in the last release. They've kept the bass the same but brought back more detail. These are keepers

    Hi,

I went from xxx42 to this one and quite like it too. Asians have different hearing then caucasians so I wonder if it's just a lucky hit or to they actually measure this stuff ? Just wondering....

    Cheers,

Now that could fill up the MUC with options Frank. Imagine having ethnically focused builds

    Cheers,
Could well be, seeing as they are based in Taiwan. Maybe they have people from different ethnicities testing sound, etc.

Maybe it's just me, but my old ears think 8264 is the best sounding driver yet.

I still find 6.0.1.8228 to have more "3d" definition and clarity. These 8264's are a bit dull/muddled for me. Not bad, just not as good as 8228 in my opinion.

Tested with Hal Ketcum's Dear Anna Lee and my own recording Molotov Missouri.

Crappy youtube compression, but if you can get a higher bitrate version, this is a nice test song.

Same for this one, my own song and recording that I mentioned a few pages back high bitrate flac

Weirdly, after I updated v1709, the Realtek HD Audio Manager appeared on the Control Panel.

I initially got that kind of sound on a PC and laptop. On checking in Control Panel > Sound > Playback tab > Speaker Properties > Enhancements tab, I found that "Immediate mode" had become checked, apparently in driver installation. Once I unchecked that, the sound was clean and good.

Immediate Mode has always been checked for me (by default) and I have never unchecked it. I assumed all that did was make it so if you change a setting, like Loudness Equalization, or say from Optical Out to Headphones (Speakers), it did not require a reboot, or at least restart of the current audio source. Please do correct me if I am wrong.

*goes off to play with previously ignored check box setting...*
