My question is, how come there are so many updates, are the drivers that bad? I never seem to have problems but there have been more updates to these drivers in the last few months than even what the video cards go through.

The trick is to find good one and stick to it.

Maybe Brink or someone could speak to this but I have also found that at least on my system which has Maxx integration the drivers FFO6 sound a little better than the generic FF00 drivers even when I have Maxx turned off. It would be nice to see MUC have a few of the updated driver versions with the different integrations listed to.

Z77 Pro3 with HWID "HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0892&SUBSYS_18497892". I will follow your steps and delete the ICESound from my computer as well
I think I'm gonna have to make the permanent switch to using Realtek UAD drivers on my friend's ASUS board instead of using the traditional Realtek HDA drivers, even though HWID "HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0887&SUBSYS_10438576" is not fully supported but I can use the HDXRT.inf and HDX_GenericExt_RTK.inf files from the UAD drivers to set it up, thanks to this guy. I don't have the ICESound problems with the UAD drivers.
