Windows 10: Latest Realtek HD Audio Driver Version

  1.    22 Sep 2017 #1191

Also since I just reformatted, I can tell you that the realtek alc 1150 using the default windows 10 driver only uses 0.4 to 0.6% on the audio graph while using the realtek driver (without sonic) uses 1.1 to 1.3 and when using sonic its 1.4 to 1.8% of the CPU.

Wish Sonic and Realtek could do what they do in the same CPU usage as the Microsoft Driver.

8258 has turned the BASS down again in favor of vocals. At least that's what it sounds like to me. (I do use the Sonic Studio Plugin for Realtek from ASUS as the standard realtek driver sounds like poop)

For my tests, I use foobar with the channel mixer plugin to map the 2 channel audio of most music to the 6 channels that I have. I usually leave it in copy mode as I like to hear the vocals out of every speaker to create an effect that makes it feel like you cannot distinguish where the music is coming from.

With the bass on the woofer all the way up - it slightly feels now like I want to put the bass booster on, but this would be the first time in a while that the bass hasn't cut out the rest of the sound a bit.

Wish we didnt have to shake a magic eight ball and 'think' a driver was better. How about a change log realtek? lol

ok, then I won't be upgrading

If there was it would be a useless boilerplate log like "General enhancements and bug fixes."

There is a slim possibility that Asus will release a new Asus Maximus VII Realtek Audio driver with an updated version of Sonic Studio and the latest version of the realtek driver released to that date.
    * I have a case open with Asus and they have engaged the level 2 techs to seeing if they can accomplish this task.
**If I could figure out how to remove the motherboard requirement from the Sonic Studio 3 installer (that they provide with Maximus 8 and 9), I wouldnt need their help

Edit: I have an Idea - I wonder if Daniel K can improve the Realtek driver.... *Looks for his contact info* he used to do great work with the sound blaster drivers before creative got all pissy.

Well that's strange, as 8258 seems to have increased bass for me yet again. (No Sonic stuff, and 5.1 analog speakers.) I have to put the 31/62/125 equalizer settings to -2 or -3 for bassy stuff. Otherwise sounds about as same as 8254 I guess.

you mean the Dolby bass boost? in 2 or 3 are the settins I always use for 5.1 analog headphones

I meant the low end settings (31, 62, and 125) in the realtek hd audio manager Equalizer, to lower the bass output. Now I have to keep those on -3 (can see the value in the tooltip for each vertical slider) to keep my subwoofer from vibrating the whole room. lol (And the volume knob on the subwoofer is at minimum.)

ah I see, then still don't know if I have to update the driver, maybe I'll wait for the next one

@Christoph34 I suggest you should test yourself because when come with sound is very subjective.
