    Legomedic3405The picture shows you are using Minitool Partition Wizard.
    If you want to recover data you have to use Minitool Power Data Recovery. MiniTool Data Recovery Software – Power Data Recovery & Mac Data Recovery.
    Free to download and scan, must purchase to restore files . You need another drive of the same size or larger to restore your files to.

    @Legomedic3405
    @spunk is correct. You would only start with MiniTool Partition Wizard if the partitions on the drive were missing. Yours are intact, so go straight to the recovery program.

    I believe you can recover up to 1GB with the free version and anything over that requires you to purchase the program (pretty much standard in the recovery arena).

    ok, so i downloaded the minitool power data recovery software. I selected the drive labeled E: Unidentified with 899gb of data. after running the scan, it says there is 1.98tb of data/files found. its only a 1tb drive so it doesnt quite make sense to me. am i doing something wrong?

    After starting up the program i selected the one circled in red. after program was finished, it showed the results on top left which is same name as selected E: Unidentified with 899.48gb. External Hard drive formatted / deleted while installing windows 10-2018-11-26_li.jpg

    When i open the finished report, the following screen is what appears. None of the files are labeled like they were written on the drive and you can see that i circled the total data/file amount in red. External Hard drive formatted / deleted while installing windows 10-2018-11-26-1-_li.jpg

    I know i will have to purchase the program to fully retrieve and save all the lost data, but i dont want to purchase if its not going to work properly. I am confused with how it finds 1.93tb of data on a 1tb drive and why the files are not labeled as they were before data was lost.

    Any help would be much appreciated.

    About finding 1.93tb on a 1.0tb drive: data recovery software can find evidence of multiple previous writes to a disk. It may not be able to recover some of those files, but it can see enough about them on the drive media to know they were there (and sometimes even what they were called, when written, how big and so forth).

    Will i need a separate external drive to save everything too? Since the one i am having issues with will now need to be reformatted?

    Absolutely! If you're trying to recover stuff, the last thing you want to do is write to the drive where recovery is happening. Probably a good idea to get a drive as big, if not bigger, than the one you're recovering files from.
