    I kind of forgot that I had this post open.

    As it turns out the problem was a Microsoft issue not a Logitech software issue. Once Microsoft fixed the problem on their end the Logitech software worked just fine therefore there really was no need to upgrade the software from their perspective. If the software is not to your liking that's one issue but as a former programmer I can tell "if it isn't broke, don't fix it" applies here as Logitech's software is a basic software package that provides the basic functionality that most people need.
