At least you got a reply. I sent in a request and they responded with what version of windows are you running. I responded and told them and told them it was on the original request. I got a "you contacted tech support and did they resolve your issue" letter. I told them they never attempted to. I got a reply asking what version of windows 10 I was using. I've been through that cycle 4 times now. I'm just not responding any more.

I signed up there, did you do that Steve? The first reply was pretty generic, check to see if it's being seen in Device manager.

I had to re-explain that the problem is with the software, then I got the Microsoft is working on a fix deal,

I wasn't very hopeful after that, but left a reply that I wasn't closing it until they fixed their software.

Couple weeks later I got that one I posted before.

I don't blame you though, their just dragging it out it seems.

Looks like they are seeing the light after all, this was the last reply on my ticket,

At least they are doing something, instead of just letting Microsoft own it.
Thanks for the update on this Derek. :) I think its about time they updated there own software as their newest release is from 2012 anyhow. :) Just wonder how long it will take them.

I am happy to find this thread. I upgraded all my hardware at the time of the Windows 10 AU. Spent enough time with device manager ensuring all the hardware drivers were loading and up to date.

One of the last things I did was install my Logitech C 920 and software (twice). Same problems as above, plus Cortana was having trouble with the mic, which wasn't happening before.

So the C 920 has been unplugged since AU. I was kicking myself for maybe making a bad hardware choice (bought it long ago) but I see here that some very fine Ten Forum members are in the same boat as me. Thanks for the company :).

I hardly use camera on my desktop as I skype, etc with laptop and smart phone. But I was using the built in C 920 mic to talk to Cortana. Wonder if she misses me.

Do you guys use a different or second mic or just the C 920 mic.

On my C 920 everything still works, EXCEPT Logitech's own software. Mine works VERY well with skype, no problems at all. Anything that needs a mic or uses live video sees my C 920 just fine. Just can't use logitech's own software.

Ok, thanks. Maybe that's the key. I'll plug in the C 920 and not install software and see if Cortana starts understanding me again.

Don't use Cortana myself, as I turned it off many months ago. :) but I use skype with no problems with my C 920. I still have the Logitech software installed, I just don't use it. (it will crash on me) So you might have to reinstall the software, just don't use it. But you can try it without installing the software 1st. I would check it out using skype 1st. As I know it works very well with skype. Good Luck.

I plugged in the C 920 and didn’t install the software. Device manager had it showing in audio inputs. Cortana didn’t like that. Had trouble shooter detect new devices and then the webcam was moved to USB controllers, where it should be.

Skype is working and Cortana is listening to me again (searches, open Microsoft Edge, etc).

I have family over today (brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews). I have discussed with them a number of times the added features in Windows 10. Old or young, what impresses them the most?
“Hey Cortana, play Maneater”. “OK, here’s Maneater”. And the song starts.
That’s what impresses them the most????

Well I'm glad you got your C 920 plugged back in, and are able to use it again. That is the only important thing. :) As for Cortana, its a preference weather you want her or not, which is fine with me. Happy you got your cam and mic back. :)

My C920 has always worked with Cortana both before and after the 1607 release. In my case only the Logitech software fails to run but after applying the fix I can get the video side to work but not the camera side. But if your want you can try Webcam Toy - Take photos online with over 80 fun effects if you need to shoot a picture.
