    only 2 speakers work

Sorry if this has been asked a gazzilion times. I have a dell PC inspiron with windows 10. Logiteck 5.1 speakers that worked fine with windows 8. Now only two speakers work. They are connected in the back with the colored recepticles. I have my turntable connected through the Mic Hole and all speakers work then. But streaming online or playing windows media files or itunes or winamp sound is only coming from two speakers. I deleted the driver and went to the realtech website and downloaded another (maybe the wrong one) and still only two speakers work unless I'm using my turntable.

There is a setting in the Realtek Sound Manager called "Speaker Fill". This needs to be checked so that sound goes to all the speakers.

First, if you are using the MIC input (Pink) that is only MONO, not stereo. You need to use the "Line In" (Blue) for Stereo.

What is the Inspiron model number? Does Dell have Win 10 sound drivers? (or at a minimum Win 8.1). Win 8.0 sound drivers didn't work for most when Win 8.1 came out. They had to have Win 8.1 sound drivers.

You need to set "Stereo Mix" as the default Recording device, too.

PS: stereo mix is set in recording device

Dell Inspiron 3646. Turntable is connected in the front through the mic and all speakers work. Speakers are connected to the rear of the pc. Streaming music or films and sound files downloaded to and played with the pc only two speakers work. When I do the test all speakers work.

How are you getting the 5.1 to work when there is only One (Green) speaker out jack. The others are Mic (Pink) and Line in (Blue). On many other models there are additional speaker out jacks for 5.1 speaker systems. Does your Realtek HD Audio Manager allow reassigning the jacks? I went through all the available on-line documentation for this model and it says nothing about audio other than the Green Speaker jack.

And even though you get sound on all speakers, the Mic jack is still only Mono. The Tip is the audio, the Ring connection in a Mic jack has +5VDC which is required by computer mic's.

There is a Win 10 Realtek driver listed on the Dell downloads.

Thanks for the help. I dont know if with the turntable it is 5.1. I just know all speakers are producing sound with turntable. Only two speakers produce sound with windows media player or youtube or anything else. I couldnt find anywhere to reassign the jacks. I will check out the Dell support page.

If you are plugging the turntable into the mic jack, you are only getting ONE channel audio.
I have no idea how you got it to work the way it is unless there is some way of reassigning the ports. This model only has three audio ports on the rear, Pink mic (input), Blue line in (input) and Green speaker (output). I know SOME models have an option in the Audio Manager program to reassign jacks and get proper 5.1 output.

Post on the Dell Desktop hardware section of their forum. Maybe one of the users there, more familiar with Dell's can get you going.
