    Windows 10 and Kaby Lake+

    Help me understand how this works? I have a 6700k with w7 and w10. How does Microsoft know which CPU one uses with Windows?

    Would, for example, a W7 computer with a 2600k get updates that mine would not?

    If I were to get a Kaby Lake CPU and try to install w7 with it, what would happen?

    Would only some useless power saving features not work? Would Windows 7 not install at all? What new features are coming in new processors other than power saving shenanigans? I have no idea what that author is talking about. I have installed multiple different Windows OSs via USB with NO "difficulty".

    Furthermore, is this just fearmongering? It certainly seems like it may not affect consumers/enthusaists as much as the author implies.

    Also, before anyone says "go to 7 forums", one will ALWAYS be comparing older OSs to the newest ones in regards to performance and compatibility thus I feel it's appropriate.

    Newer processor may have some new instructions that older OSs don't know about. Similar things were happening in the past. Seems like MS is not going to bother with updates to older windows to be compatible with newer CPUs but Intel may come up with some patch.
