Updated to win 10 from win 7 and now no sound

So I am using an older laptop HP Dv9700, when I was running win 7 64 bit sound worked fine, updated to win 10 last night, the last night I could and now I don't have any sound from either the speakers or my headphones. I have been told to download either Realtek HD audio drivers or Coxenant Drivers for win 10 and have downloaded both, installed both and neither seem to fix the issue. I waited till the last minute just so I would have up to date drivers and this headache that is win 10 isn't seeming worth it.

Anyone else have these issues and maybe has a fix?

    Thanks

Hi, first could you complete your system specs (if unsure how, there is a guide in the Tutorial section).

Second, look at your Device Manager and identify your sound card- or refer to HP's site.

Downloading two different manufacturer's drivers won't solve your problem. Windows 10 looks after you basic PC drivers for you. However, in some cases of older hardware, it may be necessary to use drivers from earlier OS's. If so, another fix is needed to stop Win 10 replacing the older driver.

Other issues have been identified with respect to audio not working after updating to Win 10. You ask (Has) 'Anyone else (had) have these issues and maybe has a fix?'

If you search the forum using the white search box above using e.g.
    no sound
    no audio

and in particular look for Solved threads, you will find a number of cases. This topic has been quite often discussed, so you may be in luck.

Once you have only the necessary drivers installed, see if you find anything helpful. If you solve your problem, please post back and mark solved; if not, keep a record of what you have tried, post back and list what you have tried.

    E.g.
Solved no audio - Windows 10 Forums
    - and note the numerous specific references to specific manufacturer's drivers, so you need to be certain which one you should be using.

I had the exact same HP laptop which I upgraded to Win 10, this fixed the sound problem for me.
Rightclick on volume>choose playback devices>choose speakers>click properties>Enhancements>add a tick to the disable enhancements box.
Enhancementsis the 3rd tab along for me.
