    If it is SATA 2.5", install the SSD inside and put your old disk at a SATA-to-USB case or adapter. Connect that to the netbook. Also prepare a USB Flash drive with Acronis Rescue or other clone tool. Boot from Acronis (or whatever) and clone your old drive to SSD. Make sure you have checked for errors. If it has errors or assumes it has error (the "dirty bit" is enabled) then it will attempt to clone sector-by-sector and tell you your old disk doesn't fit on the SSD regardless of the size of your data.
