Just getting discouraged, I really wanted an EE 965 but it looks impossible for now, I ONLY see one website that has 3 left, selling at $129 USD, that to me is too much to play around with, not that I don't have it, but being this is working okay now, it really isn't worth spending 20 bucks or so for a used EE 965... I see TONS of Pentium D 945, which is so odd, I ask why? Okay, benchmarking the 920 I have against what I have seen with a 945 - I see an overall 13-15% better performance, but no HT. So I get a clock speed higher at 3. 40 GHz rather than 2.80 - nothing else is better, whereas the EEs had hyper-threading, which I think would have been a noticeable improvement... CPU World still say a C2D will be supported, but I don't think so, being Intel didn't give out full info on these Gateway made Watsonville 2 mobos... Only that they support - so they say, P4s, PDs, and EE 955 and 965, all under the "Presler" code name.
Putting a Quad Core C2D in here, wow, I think I'd be really happy, but that isn't gonna work I guess... So all bets are off upgrading old Betsy here, unless you or anyone else thinks that 945 @ 3.40 GHz would be noticeable. There are so many of them, all are selling at just 5 USD, including shipping, lol. Something up with them...
