2 seconds sound delay. Power saving?

Hi guys, I have the following sound problem on my newly installed Windows 10. When I don't use audio on my PC, meaning not watching any videos or listening to music, let's say, reading an article - it seems that my sound card goes to sleep after a few minutes.

Then, I try to play a song in WMP for example - the first 2 seconds or so I don't hear anything, then the sound card "wakes up" or something and the audio is back with no interruptions or anything like that. I mean there is no problem with the sound itself. So, if I'm not at my computer, I don't hear any shorts sounds at all. I mean system sounds or new incoming mail sounds etc. Because by the time sound card is "awake", the sound has already ended.

I went through all possible settings in Windows, power saving modes, reinstalled drivers for my motherboard... I mean everything I could think of. Nothing helps. Does someone have a solution for this? Thank you in advance.

The sound card is built-in, on Gigabyte B85M motherboard.

Hello makera. You and I seem to be the only people in the whole world that have this problem. I posted on 10forums and no one has the slightest idea what I was talking about. Anyway, I am posting a reply to you because the problem seemed to correct itself over the 3 months I have had my Dell xps13. The sound is still flakey though and Realtek audio still has huge problems. I blame the worst Windows version ever released: the fraudulent Windows 10 Creators Update.

Do a Clean Boot. If this works, then add one startup item or service at a time, rebooting each time, till the behavior returns, then you will know what the problematic program is.
Also, go to the Gigabyte Drivers page, find your model# choose your version of 10 (ie) 32bit or 64bit and download the latest audio driver GA-B85M-D3H (rev. 1.0/1.1) | Motherboard - GIGABYTE

Spunk: Why would you tell me to download a driver for a Gigabyte motherboard when I have a Dell motherboard. Are you a real human or a bot?

@dangnad2, why don't you start your own thread, or link the one you have already started, so we can help you instead of commenting on a necrothread

    Audio troubleshooter

Spunk, on 20 May 2017 I posted on this subject and got one ridiculous reply with the usual bluff recommendations: "safe mode" and "clean boot". These have never solved one problem for any user for all of cyber time.

Sound delay Windows 10 Creators Update

He also wanted a copy of my task manager which also is ridiculous because of the huge number of processes in Windows 10. He was just fishing.

To solve my problem it would take someone with fairly good knowledge of Windows 10 audio processes: The crappy new Windows audio enhancement and Realtek.

Btw: Windows 10 audio troubleshooter is useless for this issue because it only spots trouble when you have no sound.
