For drivers for my MSI mainboard, I only use the ones from MSI, as they have been thoroughly tested for it.
Many newer drivers are just updates for support of newer hardware/chipsets which have nothing to do with my system.

Hi,
A newer driver won't install if the chipset isn't supported anyhow.
Cheers,

Forum - Which are the Intel AHCI/RAID drivers?
Hi,
Not all chipset numbers are included hence the dots prior to closing the bracket.
That's an Enterprise series driver with an added scsi filter. I havn't listed any of these but the one you mention is recommended by Winraid for the X99 chip apparently but you then need to run in RAID mode if I interpret the info correctly.Intel RST(e) drivers v14.8.16.1063 WHQL dated 04/10/2017 per WinRaid:
Cheers,
I mentioned it cos I use an Asus X99 Board and Raid, but AFAIK it is the same Driver for AHCI?. The X99 Chipset can use 2 different EFI OROMs (Raid Bios's) , either the 14 Series or 4/5 Enterprise Series which is usually on Commerical grade Servers etc not Consumer Boards like mine , it depends on which EFI Module the Manufacturer has installed in the Bios , apparently (from reading WinRaid) some Boards allow you to change it , though I am not aware of a Consumer MB that allows that myself.
AFAIK all drivers from the 12 Series on include the extra SCSI Filter Driver (ie it is Enhanced) and I think
RST(e) = RST Enhanced ......... while RSTe = RST Enterprise ........the Enterprise Drivers are in the 4.x or 5.x Series though

Intel X99 Chipsets Intel RST(e) v14.8.16.1063 or Intel RSTe v5.2.0.1194 Intel RST(e) v14.8.16.1063 or Intel RSTe v5.2.0.1194

Hi,
I figured you'd be running an X99 chip.
Going by my two machines that support RAID mode it is the same driver indeed.I mentioned it cos I use an Asus X99 Board and Raid, but AFAIK it is the same Driver for AHCI?.
I'm using the plain vanilla RST drivers which are running fine and shows up in device manager like this:
I wasn't even aware you'd had to distinguish between "Enhanced" and "Enterprise series". The art of complicating things....Intel(R) Chipset SATA/PCIe RST Premium Controller
Cheers,
The IRST driver (Raid driver) contains the AHCI driver. The only way to get the Intel AHCI driver that I know of.
