Agree I set the digital signing disable in W7 I assumed this configuration migrated across to W10 during upgrade ...

Now I'm not sure I follow ... If I upgrade to W10 I am not going to be able to carry out the ammount of configuration without a working mouse... I only have 1 PS2 port an have keyboard in that.
    I do have a PS2 mouse

How does advanced start up allow me to use keyboard & mouse? Sorry if I'm being thick ... can
you lay out sequence ... I need bit more explanation.

From your Original post I assumed that Win10 isn't allowing the Drivers to be installed as they are not WHQL signed so via

    Advanced startup>Troubleshoot>More Recovery options>Startup Options>No7 (disable Driver Sig enforcement)>Enter key(reboot)

I hoped it would allow Win10 to Boot and allow those drivers to self install and give you a mouse while installing the new stuff from Asus.

........ of course it might not help.

You could try a newer version of Intel's Chipset Driver eg 9.4.4... or whatever is the latest for Z77? before the upgrade to Win10 too. maybe it will be accepted , as at least the USB2 ports should work even if the Asmedia USB3 ones don't.

If you have the Option in the Bios, try switching the xHCI Controller to smart from Smart Auto it helps on X99 , not sure on Z77

I had problems with the keyboard not working after my upgrade from 8.1 to 10, also the latest major update hosed my Keyboard settings....again.

I went looking at the list of generic Win drivers for keyboards & after some trial & error found one that recognizes the Keyboard. You might want to try that & see if that yields any results in recognizing the KB. Same for the mouse.

While 10 didn't recognize my current KB, it did recognize a different model when I plugged it in.

as this is a Microsoft keyboard ... under plug&play it should recognise this and install generic driver ? .......... or am I being naive

I now have compounded issue while roll back to W7 was easy and quick it has wiped out my original product key - and when I 're-enter it' it rejects the key which is a known genuine key.

Generally whether or not it is an MS keyboard, windows, on plugin and no USB related driver issues, should detect, and install a driver, it may have to look online, but unless something requiring (like certain MS KB's) Intellipoint software, a driver of some sort should install and you get basic KB functionality for use in the GUI.

Tough spot to be in if you're not comfortable with KB commands, or lost a mouse, or both (the worst).

Key issue is interesting, no reason the key should have been wiped out, others may have a solution to that...

Strange one on the Key , once you install 10 your Motherboard is assigned a "Digital Entitlement" to that copy of Win10 and will be automatically activated when you install win10 again whether via Upgrade or Clean install , you don't actually get a Key for win10 .

So it won't let you run the Upgrade again?

At the moment not trying as I want to fix license issue first before I retry ... or I could be chasing 2 issues at same time
