Actually their is a way for us to find out ....I think.... We need to ask Pete if Slimware is back on his computer. As we had him remove this last night.

He may have done multiple restores, no way of knowing, but that is a very long time, even for a real reset.

Peter ...when you get some time, could you look and see if your program Slimware is removed ....or is Slimware still listed in your Programs Folder in your Control panel ??

I think it's a reset. I've done resets on W8 machines, and they remove all installed programs but leave your data. W10 should be the same. The fact that it took so dang long, sounds like a reset to me.

Correct. As I said, Mindspark is a PITA and may show up in a rootkit scan.

But guys - the OP is not following my method - he's jumped to ESET and skipped the MBAM+Rootkit, the Ccleaner reg clean, etc. Of course, if it is a reset, then all we have to worry about now is *maybe* browser junk.

You're right Computiac, we need screenshot, and logs; an installed programs list from Ccleaner, snips of the Windows Startup entries in Ccleaner, the browser tabs in Ccleaner, etc.
