From my previous reply on page 1 - use the first setup of program from the MSI pdf, I have the links for both :
Microsofts wushowhide - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3073930
MSI's PDF for instructions - MSI Global - The best gaming gear maker in the world
Follow the links and you will be ok :)
Hey,
Same for me here.
This f*****ng Windows Update always wants to install this Elan driver, despite I have already the last Asus Smart Gesture software and driver.
EVEN if I disabled driver auto update from the system properties...
And when I hide the update from the microsoft tool, it reappears after some times ...
Did you go into device manager and uninstall the driver and check the box to delete all files on this PC - this will stop it from reappearing and works after you make the changes with the Microsoft tool - don't forget to reboot the PC after uninstalling the driver in device manager then go to windows update and check for updates - it should be gone for good.
This is what mine looks like in device manager now with only the basic driver left because I don't use the touch pad, and it works fine, but I had to uninstall a couple of drivers:

I recent came across this issue with my parents laptop.
Windows insisted the device was an ELAN touch pad (which it is), but would install ELAN Touchpad 15.8.4.3_X64_WHQL.
However, I visited the ASUS website, and found the latest Touch Pad drivers for Windows 10 (ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Driver & Tools - R510CA
), which was ASUS Smart Gesture (For Windows 10 Upgrade / Touchpad Driver) V4.0.5. I had to uninstall the previous driver first, then installed this one, and it worked. It actually installed the device as an ASUS Touchpad instead of the previous ELAN device.
I've performed several reboots and Windows update checks, and while the ELAN tab still appears on the Mouse Properties screen, all options are disabled because there are no active devices using it.
Congratulations, and this maybe of help for those who have been waiting desperately for a decent driver.
I had problems, no scroll and no right button with 2 fingers touch, on my Asus T300LA after upgrading to Windows 10 and AUS smart gesture 4.0.5 and 4.0.6. I fixed the problem installing the ASUS windows 8.1 Smart gesture, version 2.2.8. Unfortunately over time Windows 10 automatically upgrades to the wrong one: 4.0.6. I have to find a way to disable automatic upgrade.
Have a look at my 2 replies and try the Microsoft wushowhide tool there are also tutorials on this site different to this which may help if you have problems - Windows 10 Tutorials - Go to Hardware & Devices.
just seen this thread, actually via google. I too have no touchpad in win 10 on my laptop, I have to use a mouse. Elan is loaded up by windows and it does not work. I have read through the posts but did not see how to make the damn thing work again. I have been trying for weeks to get asus smart gesture to load in but it refuses, stating missing files. I have also emailed ASUS and, so far, no reply.
Is there a definitive fix?
