    DVD/CD-ROM Read Problems

    Hi:

I have just come across a funny one.

I have a program that I wanted to install into my Win 10 Pro Machine (64 Bit) and have found that the disk can not be read by the DVD/CD-ROM Drive. I also tried it in another Windows 10 Computer (64 Bit) and it also can't read the disk.

The disk worked fine under Windows 7, in both the same computers.

The drive works as it reads other CD/DVD's.

The disk is good as it works perfect in an other Windows 7 (32 Bit) and Vista computers (32 Bit).

Computer is up to date with builds etc.

    Any idea's

Is it that the program install routine won't run or is it that File Explorer doesn't see the data on the disc?
If the disc can be read in Win7 I'd plug in a USB Thumb drive, create a Folder using the program's name and copy the contents of the disc to it then plug the Thumb drive into the Win10 computer/s and open File Explorer to that Folder, find the setup.exe file and double-click, see if it will install that way. Or copy that Folder to the HDD and try installing.

It wont read the disk, the install routine wont run, File Explorer does not read the disk. I did go ove to my older machine and copy all the files over to a thumb drive, but that still does not explain the problem I am having. This seems to be a Windows 10 problem as the disk can't be read in Windows 10 machines, but can read and install the disk in a Windows 7 machine.

I get the same problem, but it is telling me the folder attributes on the DVD are read-only. No kidding they are read-only, it is a DVD. Trying to do an XCOPY, I cannot copy the folders either. It is hard to believe Mcsrosoft would be so stupid not to allow files dna folders top be copied froma DVD because they are read-only. When you copies files and folders to a DVD, of course they are going to be read only.
