    365.10 - Black screen while installing/updating;

    362.00 - Also black screen while installing/updating.

    The only way to get video output back is to force restart the computer.


    358.91 - From Windows Update - Works properly.

    O.k. so black screen after installing those. Force restart because you are then stuck to normally restart with black screen. So same happens over an over if you keep those drivers other then 358.91 ? Meaning restarting again or shutting down and starting again, same issues ?

    No, after force restarting, everything seems to work normally, no more black screens.

    I can shut down and turn the PC back on, or even restart normally.

    The problem only seems to happen while installing or upgrading the drivers.


    On the other hand, 358.91 installs correctly, no Black screens.

    Strange, but if it only happens then and everything is fine you can stay with newer driver and see if it eventually causes you anymore issues. Sometimes make sure your properly uninstalling the driver before reinstalling a newer one.

    I think i found a possible reason for the problem:
    Today i upgraded to build 14342, and the same driver that caused the black screen in 10586 and 14295, installed flawlessly in the latest build.

    My guess is that this is caused by some sort of conflict between the driver provided by WU, and the one downloaded directly from nvidia.

    I overlooked that you were using insider edition of Windows 10. I never take it from Windows update NVIDIA Drivers and should be o.k. but they do not always give you the latest version drivers. I rather install myself and use custom install on driver software.

    Ok, then i'll disable the automatic driver updates in Windows and download newer versions straight from nvidia. Or even use the built-in GeForce Experience utility.

    I agree with that totally.
    I've blocked Windows Update from updating Nvidia drivers and always download them from the Nvidia site.
    I also use Display Driver Uninstaller in safe mode to uninstall the previous drivers before installing the latest ones.

    I've never had any display problems using this method.
