The intel driver update has not worked. Indeed two patches which seemed destined to cure my problems failed to install. As a result my system is unstable, often freezing altogether, and neither Task Manager nor anything else will unfreeze it, except a drastic long press on the on/off button!
It (SM Buss) is to connect external devices with that buss which you probably do not have so driver for it is not necessary, you can disable it safely.

I always have it disabled even with driver working because never had anything to attach to it. Saves a bit on the resources if nothing else. It's mostly used on servers with dual, redundant PSUs and such.
There's no use uninstalling drivers for it because windows will attempt to install them again, if you disable it, it should stay disabled.
Glad it worked. Having your system specs filled out helps others help you. I posted a pic and link of what was suggested in post #2 after getting the info suggested in post #6. I appreciate the complement but it was a team effort
