Issue installing driver for older Dell monitor 2001fp

I like to use two monitors which seems to be causing an issue with my new Dell XPS 8900. I got the new computer and monitor three days ago and came with a Nvidia gtx 745 video card. I hooked up the new 2316H monitor via hdmi and the older 2001fp via DVI-D. The older 2001fp seems to have lost the brightness and contrast selection from its menu. Since win 10 only sees it as a PnP monitor I assumed I needed to install the driver to gain access to a full menu.

While it was a cinch to find the driver online and download it win 10 refuses to install it. I tried the usual suspects i.e. device manager and the old control panel hardware settings, but neither succeeded. Window assures me they have the right driver installed (which absolutely cracks me up). I'm certain I am missing the obvious fix here, but it has been quite awhile since I played around installing drivers (remember 95B, I do) much less with a brand new OS.

It's likely an inf file so try this. Open device manager, go to Monitors, right click one and select Update driver software. Then select browse my PC and point it to the folder with the driver files in it. If it fails on the first one in the list try the second one.

Alpha this is exactly what I have tried to do. When pointed the correct path and folder window claims "The best driver for your device is already installed"

So, as I stated above win refuses to install the driver.

What does it see the other new 2316H monitor as in Device Manager ? For one i have not needed to use drivers for a monitor and it should have nothing to do with it's Menu settings on the monitor. Most downloads for monitors are software these days. Are these both Dell Monitors ?

Yes they are both Dell monitors. Initially it saw both monitors as "generic PnP" after I installed the drivers that came with the new 2316H , device manager showed moniter 1 as 2316H and second monitor as generic PnP. The reason I believe I need to install the driver for the older 2001fp is that instructions I found on the net show a "brightness" (which includes Contrast) option when you press the menu button. Right now the menu button does not show a "brightness" option. And this monitor definitely needs some adjustments.

Monitor is back from 2005, i can not find it here they might not be updates and incompatible for Windows 10.

When you install a driver it will show it as the model in Device Manager instead of Generic PnP.

Might be dual monitor issue rather then a driver, try just that monitor hooked up and is the only time this happens ?

My model still shows here without a driver as seen in other post. List manufacturer and exact model of the Graphics card.

Yes, I recognize that first screenshot, on mine it of course shows two monitors; the first one listed is the 2316H (which only showed after I installed the drivers), the lower shows "generic PnP". Not sure of the exact manufacturer of my card, it is a Nvida gtx 745 that was installed by Dell.

Yes i saw a Dell Optiplex one listed for a GTX 745, i was not sure as each manufacturer is different with any model. Reason i ask is to update Graphics card drivers have you ? I also wanted to see it's connection on this card.

    64bit or 32bit windows 10 ?

Hard to think why not having a driver would remove settings on a monitor as this is part of the monitors display itself and not Windows.

How again was it without the new monitor hooked and just the older Dell Monitor ? Still loose settings ?

I should have mentioned that I have gone to Nvidia's site and updated the drivers. I hooked up both monitors before I even turned the computer on. Not sure why I am missing such a vital function on the 2001fp, I was hoping to resolve it by installing the driver.
