How to completely remove Intel® Extreme Tuning Utility?

I've seen that even after official uninstaller a lot of garbage is left on the HD, XTUService running etc...
Who knows exactly what and where to remove if you want to finally get rid of this tool?

I deleted the service with SC DELETE but "C:\Program Files (x86)\Intel\Intel(R) Extreme Tuning Utility" can't be deleted because of some files still locked...

Can't find a guide or a thread about this.

Try CCleaner. It may catch the leftovers.

There is an uninstaller tool, Revo Uninstaller. Get the Freeware version of Revo. It can clean the leftovers from the deepest of the system.

Old thread but I came across this same service on my machine and am posting a solution for anyone else that stumbles across this thread searching for instructions as I have been unable to locate a straight answer on removing this Intel tuning service from windows 10.

You have to use the installutil.exe utility that ships with the Microsoft .Net Framework. The utility has to be ran from a command prompt with administrative rights. And since the .Net framework folder is not included in the path environment variable, you'll need to navigate to the folder that contains the executable manually.

Two things yo need, the path to the installutil.exe executable and the location and name of the Intel tuning service executable you want removed.

The installutil.exe file can be found at:

    C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\InstallUtil.exe

The tuning service I removed was installed at:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Intel\Intel(R) Extreme Tuning Utility\XtuService.exe

Using those pieces of information, open a command prompt as an admin and enter (your information for the location of the extreme tuning service may be different, I'm showing mine here as an example):

    C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\InstallUtil.exe /u C:\Program Files (x86)\Intel\Intel(R) Extreme Tuning Utility\XtuService.exe

Hit enter and when it is complete, reboot and the service should be gone. You can also safely delete the C:\Program Files (x86)\Intel\Intel(R) Extreme Tuning Utility folder and its contents.

Also use Autoruns to disable any tasks / services / drivers related to this.

Hello, I currently have this same "XtuService" issue.

Ugaboy, I did everything as you said to do, but here's what the command prompt tells me : "Une exception s'est produite lors de l'initialisation de l'installation : System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Impossible de charger le fichier ou l'assembly 'file:///C:\Program' ou une de ses dépendances. Le fichier spécifié est introuvable..
Well, OK, it's french, but it says that the folder is not found.

I'm sure I put the good path, the same as yours, "C:\Program Files (x86)\Intel\Intel(R) Extreme Tuning Utility\XtuService.exe", and I know the InstallUtil thing is working.

Did I do somethiing wrong ?

Hello, uh, I'm here because of the "XutService" thing I can't seem to delete, even with the command prompt as admin.
So, I went to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, then in Services I found XTU3SERVICE. I think it's what I'm looking for, but what do I do now ? I'm not really a "pro" with this type of stuff ^^'

Should I do this first, or uninstall via control panel/uninstall a program

Ran into this too today. This worked:

    For /f %P in ('dism /online /get-drivers /format:table^|Findstr xtu') do pnputil.exe /d %P /u /f

    Reboot needed.
