The latest I found at that site were R2.75 - v6.0.1.7246, April, 2014. The latest ones at the station-drivers site were v6.0.1. 7459, March 2015.
Actually, they do -- have newer drivers than the ones posted on the realtek site. You would expect the Realtek site to be the most current, as is generally the case with other such sites, but it's not. My guess is what is happening is that Realtek is providing newer drivers to OEMs and station-drivers is (somehow) obtaining those drivers and posting them on their own site. I've tried the station-drivers stuff several times and when you run the installer, it looks and behaves just like the drivers from the Realtek site.I doubt anybody would have newer drivers than Realtek.
The thing is that I and many others had problems with drivers acquired thru MS and WU while 2.75 works and WU is not trying to update any more. I have no idea why are they problematic but in many cases they are.
Build 10041 hosed my audio drivers, so I had no speakers and Cortana didn't respond on my Toshiba Portege laptop. I went to the Toshiba web site and downloaded audio drivers for my model and now speakers work and Cortana works.
Thanks for sharing your problem and solution. And all others in this thread also. I used the time out tip and it worked for me. I did not think it would. Changing the timer from 300 sec. to 1800 sec. wow who would want a driver that takes 30 min. to dl. It worked.
UPDATE Audio issues in Windows 10 Technical Preview Build 10041 - Microsoft Community
I fixed mine another way. Under Playback and realtek High def audio there was an option to select between surround and stereo. It was set for surround sound but the test sound button was disabled to I clicked the stereo option and the test buttons enabled. I then went to a youtube video and played it and I had sound.
Hi, everyone. Is anyone else having this issue the guy from Microsoft is using as example but not really giving any info on whether they are investigating or fixing?
"Realtek audio on 10041 plays through speakers but headphones don't work"
On 6.0.1.7339 (from SAGER site) they worked fine, but as soon as I restart I'm on 6.0.1.7503 again. Already disabled driver downloads from windows update but it seems it's getting them from the disk.
X-Fi uninstalled. Build 10074
Thanks
