    One way is to open Voice Recorder which is built into W10. Click on the start button and type voice. That should bring it up.

    Click the mike and start recording, make a noise and you will soon see if it is responding.

    The best way I found is to right-click on the speaker icon in the task bar then click on recording devices it should bring up the mike icon where you CAN test it.
