I used some re-boots and diskpart and then a firmware update and on this reboot when I opened disk management it asked me to initialize the drive. Yay. I am pretty sure that is good. Should I go ahead and make a new simple volume or leave it like it is before I go plug into the other desktop to install Win 10?

Over the years I have found this tool to be a valuable asset.....especially when resetting Solid State Drives.......

It was a freeware but now the author does charge a small fee for the current version.......I am not promoting here but just wanted you to be aware of it as a possible solution to resetting your SSD......

Okay, I was able to get the drive working again. I installed this time using a disk I created with windows boot creater thing with the Win10_1511_English_x64 ISO. It is having a similar issue to what I had when I used a USB stick. It won't boot from the C drive unless the CD installation media is in the drive but then I can remove it and it runs fine. Here is the error

Have you checked in the BIOS to make sure your drive is selected as the 1st boot device..........

Got another SSD, installed windows 10 from same disk. It booted fine just now. Maybe my Crucial M500 needs to go in for RMA or I need to do something to it?

did you try plugging in the "suspected dead" micron while on your "new and working" SSD?
check if you can access the micron SSD fine through windows. (copy/paste/delete files on it)
you can also check with an SSD diagnostic software. Not sure what to recommend though. See if it's still alive

You may be able to still use that micron as a storage

Yep, I did that an re-initialized it. The Crucial storage software tells me its in good health. I am at a loss. It is less than a year old and has a 3 year warranty though so I could ship it to them but they basically reserve the right to charge you whatever and its technically their property once you send it back. Maybe have to look for peoples experience with Crucial's RMA.
