    Bug i noticed

One of the things i noticed as far as bugs go; is it seems like every time there is a windows update for this tech preview; somehow something disables the working sound from my sound blaster sound card. I then have to go into device manager; uninstall it; then rescan for hardware changes and let it reinstall it. Has anyone else had glitches/issues like this?

Not that but in the past I've had lost of issues with sound blaster drivers. It seems that they rarely update them for the latest OS.

Does that mean its probably time for me to look for a newer sound card that has drivers that are win 8/10 compatible(10 maybe?)

I'd report it through the program and wait for the final release before spending any money. Win7 was good at driver, Win8 was great with drivers, and I'm reading that a lot of older devices are being resurrected with Win10 being the most the device aware. But everything will take time.

Re-reading your post, it sounds as though the driver is found when you scan, it's just a buggy transition.

Or do you have to uninstall and re-install the driver yourself?

Creative is notoriously slow on updating their drivers for the sound cards. If I were going to get a sound card for my PC I would likely get an Asus model. Driver support is far better, IMO,.

But what matters is how much the OP has invested in his current sound card. If getting a new one is not that much I would switch.

    Just my 2c.

Yes but with a TV card, keeps on pushing wrong ones and I have to reinstall original driver for it. MS should have made it so you can choose which non-essential updates are downloaded or at least not installed..

That's not really new Win7 used to give me wrong AMD GPU drivers all the time, that and Synaptics Touchpad. AMD drivers were/are not always easy to reinistall That was on a full fledged product - Win7.

MS locked WU into automatic updates for a reason. Partly to see how well it works for 100s of thousands of machines configured with a near infinite number of hardware devices. Partly to get feedback from people who have issues with their machines after updates - if you hid the update, it would be much harder for them to get results form the next update (did we fix it?).

Is it a bug? YES, WU gives you the wrong driver.
Report it every time you have to fix it for them.

WU will be back to normal at some point.

In all other windows (even in early stages) I was able to stop installation of drivers thru WU, right or wrong but this time no chance. It's not so much a question of wrong drivers but inability to stop them from installing. I reported that to MS but there's no way for them to answer of course. Just wanted to report it here too so people can know to pay attention to the problem.

Point taken and understood. Early stages - never this early!

    Consumer Preview is months away.

    9926 Tech Preview expires October 1, 2015

I had W95 beta for over a year and tried W8 since one of first alphas. BTW there's already talk about 9931, could be just days away.
